I did do some checking, and found out that apparently no one has confirmed that they can be or that they can't. (I know, not really helpful). the daily vet Ebola Virus and Cats
Other animals (bats, dogs, rats) are known to carry the disease (or at least be seropositive for Ebola), and primates may die from it, depending on the strain and the species.
From another viewpoint, though, if comtaminated with the virus through being splattered with bodily secretions, contact with a corpse or infected rodent, or slobbered on by a dog with the virus, I would think they could carry the virus as a contaminated surface (fomite) without actually having the disease.
Thanks for the ping!
You’re Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
Okay, so maybe our rules against eating predators do not extend to fish. Shark *is* pretty tasty.
I used to eat fish, until I became allergic.
If that guy butchering and selling dog meat by the roadside develops Ebola, I'm pretty sure the customers would notice. At the least, they would wonder why he was gone. And many of the customers would probably get sick as well. I think they would put 2 and 2 together.
I have an acquaintance who claimed once to have a fish allergy. Seemed like he said it was white fish but that other seafood was just fine. But you are allergic to all fish? All seafood?
Not all seafood, but it is very difficult to determine what is safe and what is not. Sometimes, I can tell as soon as I taste the food—for instance, a Chinese restaurant had steamed crawdads, and the second I tasted one, I knew that I could not eat them. With other fish, I don’t know until later, when I become violently ill. You don’t want to know the details. So I pretty much avoid eating any water animal.
At least they eat what they kill, you can’t say that about dogs killed by American cops!
Oh, that is a shame. Fish can be so healthful.
I rarely order fish out, though, as I don’t know where most of it comes from. When I buy fish to prepare at home, I will not buy it unless it says “wild caught” and “USA”. No farmed fish and no fish handled by Third World countries.
Lol.
I do not have malaria and I don’t believe in witches.
Unless it comes down to me or the dog I will not eat dog.
