At the beginning of January 2013, Eva Cairns joins the University of Waterloo in Canada as its Hong Kong-based director. She will be responsible to represent the University and advance its mission in Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and across Asia.

From 2005-09, Eva worked with Forbes magazine as its regional sales director. She handled all Forbes business interests in the markets of Hong Kong, Macau, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea. She successfully raised the Forbes profile in these territories.
Earlier, Eva spent three years with the Turner Broadcasting System in Hong Kong, both as Head of Interactive Sales for the CNN.com, covering full-Asia markets, and as an Account Director for CNN International.
From 1994 until 2001, Eva rose through the ranks at Dow Jones, where her roles included Marketing Manager for The Wall Street Journal Asia, Regional Advertising Manager for The Global Wall Street Journal and later Deputy Advertising Director for WSJ.com in Asia, this after having worked with Asia Magazine, affiliated with the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong’s leading English newspaper.
In 1992, Eva graduated from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada, where she majored in computer science. Born in Guangzhou, China, she is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
