It was a leftwing thingy in the sixties, I was aware of it in the city where I grew up, so even in staid old Australia, morals were being attacked as bourgeoise. Now those same folk are guarding their daughters and despairing of their homosexual sons. It’s a sad state of affairs when your children take drugs because the parents said it was ok in the sixties, and now they have to bury their over-dosed children and grandchilren.
There’s still nothing in that Poem that identifies either who wrote it, or who it might have been about. Both the men it might have referred to had large earlobes and wore dark hornrimmed glasses.
Both drank, we are told. And if they also smoked pot, that’s the prime suspect imo. It removes the normal, natural inhibitions and taboos.
Either way or in any case, he was an idiot to make that poem public. And it still reads more like FMD wrote it. A poet, zero never was. I’m in two three or four minds about it...child molestation is a serious charge, be the perp dead or alive.
It affects the entire family. It would be an awful legacy for the children of Frank.
No doubt frank didn’t see it as child molestation but as introducing his young charge to earthly delights. He was a proud communist. They don’t follow truths.
