That jumped out at me too!!!
From article, the law at the time (around 1974) didn’t allow a national bank to be setup in djakarta, so they took over an existing one.
At end of article, they say they want to “surrender it to Allah (swt )”
This to me is Islamic banking. And they wanted it to be a WORLD
Pretty ambitious for a small group.
