I'd have mixed feelings about a film that accurately depicts the years of the Civil War.I'd want to see such a film because it would,I suspect, tell of the sacrifices made by many to eliminate slavery,a dark and tragic chapter of our history.OTOH,I'd be opposed to seeing such a film because I firmly believe that this country has deteriorated to the point,*beyond* the point, where the only salvation for *any* of us is secession. Not violent secession...and not violent opposition to secession.I want the type that Quebec has attempted (and almost attained) and the type that Scotland will be attempting next year.Peaceful,civilized.

I don't think secession is very practical for most states, certainly not the land locked ones that would suffer from the restrictions placed on them by the surrounding, angry & slighted, USA. Perhaps Texas, Hawaii, or Alaska could do it, or maybe a block of states with access to the Gulf or Atlantic.

If you think about it, the better solution is to EXPELL the NE states from Maryland to Maine, including WDC, & Kalifornia. Move the new capitol to the center of the country where it should be. That would give the US a clear conservative majority. Remaining liberal states would see the Federal payoffs to the states dry up, forcing them to either be productive & prudent, or starve.

Geography has to be seriously considered in any secessionist plan. Part of the strength of this nation is that it touches 2 oceans. Loss of either or both would be costly.

I realize that expulsion is about as likely as winning the lottery, so it isn't gonna happen. Still, it is the BEST solution to the problem, as liberalism is the problem in this country, not conservatism. Shouldn't we rid ourselves of a problem rather than removing the solution from the country?

Contrary to what some believe, seccession is not Constitutional, at least not without the permission of Congress. Not only did the Articles of Confederation, which created the United States, call it a “perpetual Union between the states but Article 1/Section 10, Article IV/Sections 3 & 4, and Article VI make it clear that states are not permitted run their own foreign policy or create their own confederation, that Congress has final jurisdiction over the territory of the United States, and that the states are bound by the Constitution and all state legislators, executive officers, and judicial officers are required to take an oath to support it. Further, the Habeas Corpus clause of Article 1/Section 9 makes it pretty clear that the Constitution intended the federal government to have the power to put down rebellions, which is what the Civil War was.

People with no swords can still die on them.

You may be peaceful, but that will not protect you from those who aren’t.
