Northern secession talk was everywhere in March of 1861. Meanwhile, northern governors were all over Lincoln to start a war.....which of course he did.
I'm not sure what you are implying here. Are you saying that the Northern businesses interests didn't want a war because it would hurt their business, but somehow Northern govoners pushed Lincoln into war because on their business interests?
Please explain.
Except Lincoln didn’t start the war. Rather that was the pretended insurrection, and when they didn’t get a violent reaction to their theft and unconstitutional actions, fired on a US supply ship and fort, despite having an agreement with the commander that he would surrender when he ran out of food.
Such people didn’t keep their Article III obligation to resolve controversy of which the state or the US was a party at the Supreme Court, and didn’t keep their agreement to accept the surrender of the fort when they ran out of food.
They also didn’t keep their obligation to treat US soldiers as prisoners of war.
