Why did Congress need to make Winston Churchill an honorary US citizen if his mother was also an American?

Great question! Ted Cruz for Senate Majority Leader. God knows he's needed there! Once he's fixed that body, promote him to Supreme Court to maintain his gains. He's not NBC on two counts and ambition leads him to his only unworthy - and potentially corrupting - stance. George Washington was a great president in part because he didn't want the job. Raise your children as well as your parents did, Ted, and stand proudly at their inauguration.

Why did Congress need to make Winston Churchill an honorary US citizen if his mother was also an American? Because at the age of 21 he abandoned his American citizenship and chose to be a British subject.

Why did Congress need to make Winston Churchill an honorary US citizen if his mother was also an American? Because under the laws in effect when Churchill was born citizenship for children born overseas was granted through the father. Children with a foreign father and an American mother were not citizens.
