You can go looking for Shirley and as fast as you find things, they’ll disappear. Was Stanley Ann a real person? The photos from her time in Indonesia as an anthropologist seem legitimate. Did they decide to adopt her as his “mother”? It’s possible. She went by S. Ann then. Did somebody assume that S. stood for Shirley when it really was Stanley, but they misinterpreted her signature?
