Even if I was in Texas, if someone sprayed silly string on me I can guarantee you that my first reaction will not be to sucker punch a woman.

Now if she's coming at me with a baseball bat all bets are off.

One more time... and I’ll try to type s-l-o-w-l-y, so you can keep up.

This video didn’t capture 1/10th of what happened. What was the history with the cop and the woman? Did he give her any kind of earlier warning? What was thrown at the cop (Silly String is presumed.)? Did she have serious arrest warrants outstanding? Was she already known as being a violent offender (women tugs are some of the worst.)

The article mentions none of this, not because none of it is true, but because THE POSTER DOES NOT KNOW!

Same here. I guess Texans are a lot more thin-skinned and fragile than the rest of us.

Furthermore, if you were an LEO you would have other means of arrest at your disposal - cuffs, baton, Taser, Motorola, firearm, etc. LEOs are trained and expected to do things that a regular Joe is neither capable of nor allowed to do, like chasing, tackling, using choke holds.

An LEO could resort to fistfight only if he is protecting his life or life of others, and in his opinion fists are the right tool for the job. In every other case the police is supposed to detain the suspect and haul him in front of the judge - who will then determine what happened and what to do next. Police officers are not supposed to be also judges and executioners, even if some of them want it to be so.
