My ex brother in law was a cop in the 70’s. Showed me his “throw down” gun one day, wrapped in plastic wrap. Said every cop on the force (city of 156,000) carried one in his squad car. If the cops are so righteous, why would they need throw down guns? My sister said she and every other cops spouse could do no wrong. I don’t share your reverence for cops. Yeah, a lot of them are good guys. But more than you know are crooks. Hope you get bit in the a$$ for your worship. This guy deserves something really bad.
It was neither savage, nor a sucker punch. The chick saw it coming all the way, which is why she was skedadling away.
Odds are, she had it coming.
What you saw was a criminal assault by a cop on a civilian. What you understood about what you saw is apparently another matter.
So your contention is that, what “could have been many minute prior” she did something that wasn’t enough for an immediate reaction by the cop but what did warrant rushing up to her later and knocking her on her ass?
Nice.
You don’t know what you saw.
Please explain to me the circumstance where a police officer punching a fleeing unarmed woman is justified, or deserved.
Furthermore, if you were an LEO you would have other means of arrest at your disposal - cuffs, baton, Taser, Motorola, firearm, etc. LEOs are trained and expected to do things that a regular Joe is neither capable of nor allowed to do, like chasing, tackling, using choke holds.
An LEO could resort to fistfight only if he is protecting his life or life of others, and in his opinion fists are the right tool for the job. In every other case the police is supposed to detain the suspect and haul him in front of the judge - who will then determine what happened and what to do next. Police officers are not supposed to be also judges and executioners, even if some of them want it to be so.
I watched the video closely, more than once. She clearly did something, threw/sprayed something.
It doesn’t matter. The sucker punch was STILL police brutality. It was an excessive use of force in apprehending and arresting the woman.
Thug behavior towards citizens is unacceptable, most especially in response to immature, petty behavior. Pretty soon they start shooting dogs and busting doors down without warning... oh wait, never mind.
This “officer” should lose his job and his pension.
No it was a white racist assaulting a black man with a can of a dangerous substance because he was trying to rise above the Oppression but The Man keeps stepping on his neck, keeping him down.
Do you know what you saw???
Describe it for us.
It’s best to treat cops the way you would an animal in the wild: avoid at all costs. They will strike, and probably you at the slightest provocation and most likely not face any repercussions for doing so. And even if the cop is wrong, and by some strange miracle is brought up on charges of abusing authority, you’ll still be dead. It’s best to just avoid fate. They are dangerous, trigger happy control freaks.
Yes, that is why they are hired to protect the citizenry. Anything less and they are nothing but strong arm thugs........
Of course. We need government employees to tell us the Current Truth, don’t we, comrade?
After all, only a government employee can properly Tell the Truth in a court of law.
Keep it up, lest the police officers on Olympus become angry at you for failing to appease them.
(I would think such constant appeasement would be wearisome to body and soul, but people are free to worship as they like in America, even if some choose to worship government employees.)
Not one thing you mentioned matters about the officer. He is a presumably trained peace officer under color of authority. Punching or slamming a suspect in the face while not under eminent threat is NOT part of their training. Add to the fact that the officer had a least 6 other officers within a couple of yards and his actions become even more stupid. And please, don’t lecture me about what I know/don’t know. I have worked with hundreds of peace officers and that action is not part of their training especially with back-up that close. One more side note, my sibling is a 20 year PO and when presented with the video agreed a lawsuit against said officer is probably in order. Called him a idiot. I agree.
That's false. Pick any state, and read the criminal statute for justified use of force. The legal rule is similar in civil law.
I sure as hell don’t know what you saw. I clearly saw a woman receive a dose of the same liquid material that hit the cops. I then saw a cop simply hit her without any interrogation or information to support his summary action. if you want to sniff cop jocks that’s your business but the camera doesn’t lie. The cop in that video is a criminal.
Because police never tell the truth, right, Occupoop?
There a couple of things the police learn in the academy to shout out when they see a dangerous situation.
GUN!!!!
SILLY STRING!!!
One thing I learned while working with inmates and peace officers(25+ yrs) is that in some instances the only thing that separates them is the uniform.
Even if the woman confronted the officer (which hasn’t been established. Assault is not justified.
Government employees *especially* should not be given an automatic pass on their behavior.
