This is the shocking moment a police sergeant punched a young woman in the face because he thought she sprayed silly string at him during a peaceful parade.
The video was recorded during yesterday's 50th anniversary Puerto Rican Day parade in Philadelphia - where around 1,500 people were in attendance.
The 36-second clip shows a number of people milling around enjoying the festivities in the 'City of Brotherly Love'.
From the left-hand side, someone can be seen throwing an unidentified liquid towards a group of police officers.
At the same time, a young woman is walking past - who also gets hit by the liquid.
As she turns around to see where it came from, a police officer in a white shirt - which means he has acquired the rank of sergeant - comes towards the woman and delivers a brutal punch to her face, knocking her to the ground.

Maybe he was, but watching this video makes me wonder.
There’s no realistic conceivable scenario in the preceeding 30 seconds that would justify the Cop’s actions. Those facts aren’t needed and there’s no need to “wait” for them.
An “inconceivable” scenario is that she’d just killed 10 babies with a machete, which she then dropped.
A barely conceivable scenario is that in the preceeding 30 seconds, she profanely screamed at the cop that she hoped his wife and children were raped to death, and all the while she sprayed a gallon of Silly String on him.
EVEN IF THAT HAD HAPPENED punching her wasn’t justified. Do you not understand this? She was close enough to be grabbed or tackled, and he had plenty of nearby backup, and this wasn’t an actual brick-throwing riot.
If 5 more people come and attack his position, will that make his position even more untenable? Do we track truth by how many people are on one side of it?
Settle for $100,000? She might spend that and much more over her lifetime dealing with problems that are likely to develop from that punch. TMJ, other dental problems, vision problems, headaches...
If you look at the video, a guy comes off the curb and throws water from a bottle onto the Police. The White Shirt turns around and sees the women with a water bottle and nails her in the jaw. Even if it was her who threw the water that Cop is completely unjustified in his action. Lawsuit and a hugh payoff from the tax payers
Let's start by acknowledging the facts we all witness on the video:
The cop sucker punched the woman who was not threatening him. Under no circumstances is that justifiable. So what other facts do you need???
Oh, did you miss the reply where some clown proclaimed it wasn't a "punch" it was a "slap"?
Another coward with a badge. I would like to think that the “REAL” police officers in his department would get together and have a little “party” for this individual, but the number of “REAL” police officers out there seems to be decreasing at an alarming rate. I just have to wonder how much longer are we going to suffer these kinds of heinous acts directed at innocent civilians before there is a general reaction?
Don’t get me wrong, I like cops. I despise cowardly thugs who wear badges and impersonate “REAL” police officers.
At 2 and 3 seconds of the video you can see the arm with a water bottle throw water underhand and it hits the woman and the Police almost simultaneously. The Cop turns around and sees the woman with the bottle and wham. The Cop is screwed on this one!
Okay, I finally watched the video after following this thread half the day.
The video shows me jack squat. A vicious sucker punch would not have left the woman looking up at the cop just seconds later. I couldn’t even tell if it was a closed fist. Way too little information from that video to arrive at the knee-jerk conclusion that the cop thugged out.
Anyway, why was the phone(?) video trained on that particular group of people in the first place? I saw nothing of any interest going on except for the slapdown, or whatever it was. It would be interesting to know if the person who took the video knows the woman.
You would be happy with 100k if you got your teeth knocked out or a broken nose? No way.
Are you serious? Fifty people see the same heinous act, but that doesn't matter as long as there's one badgekisser with kneepads ready to gobble the union knob? We're citizens, that waste polishing a sergeant's chair with his teflon coated, woman beating asscrack is SUPPOSED to work for us. Remember?
Are you a lawyer, either for criminal prosecutions or defense, for assault cases?
Or do you just play one on the Internet?
In which latter case I’m calling B.S.
So, it's a CONSPIRACY. Let me guess...fake blood capsule in the woman's mouth, too, right?
Tell you what ladies...if you're looking for a man, show this clip to any first dates, because someone's who's ready to go all the way to Fantasy Island to justify striking a woman HALF his size in the HEAD, you need out of your house at gunpoint...and that's the name of that freakin tune...
So anything that doesn't leave the victim unconscious isn't a "vicious sucker punch?"
If he does something like this out in the open where people are watching and taping in front of all the other officers, then think of what he may be doing behind the closed walls of the precinct.
I dunno, but I know if I punch you in the face you won't stand up and walk away looking like that woman. And if I "viciously sucker punch" you in the face, yeah, you won't get up in any hurry.
