That’s plain incorrect of Luke. Government under the constitution can’t require a religious test to qualify an elected candidate to take office. But!! A voter can use whatever criterion he or she jolly well pleases, whether it’s religion or whether the candidate prefers vanilla to chocolate ice cream.
