FWIW, I'm not with the folks who won't support Romney.

Romney was never my choice, but I do believe he will sign the repeal obamacare and it will be replaced with market driven solutions. The Tea Party has done a great job of getting conservatives on the ballot and in the House and Senate. I think that presence will grow. As a result it will be impossible for Romney to be a successful POTUS without their support. Romney will sign the bills a conservative House and less liberal Senate will send him. obama will not sign those blls and will continue to "rule by fiat".

Also, I think Ryan is a solid conservative on social issues as well as fiscal issues. Romney has shown good management skills by picking one of the intellectual leaders of the Pubs and I believe a willingness to pursue conservative solutions.

Finally, if R&R win Ryan becomes the most likely candidate in 2020. We have not had a conservative POTUS since Reagan, (Bush was more of a blue dog Rat), because the primaries are front end loaded with moderate/liberal states and consrvatives are such purists we are our own worst enemies and can never get behind a single conservative candidate.

I'm not happy with Romney, but I'll take a moderate over a radical socialist especially when repealing obamacare is at stake.

***So the soonest we can get a conservative POTUS with your plan is 2020, after 8 years of RomneyRule. If Romnuts loses, we could have a conservative as POTUS in 2016. No matter who wins this next election, conservatism loses.

Wmfights:

With all due respect:

If you believe that Romney is a moderate despite his lifelong track record;

If you believe that Romney will repeal Obozocare and not REPLACE (as he says) it with something just about as dreadful like his Massachusetts Romneycare which is worse:

If you believe that Romney will EVER be a social conservative:

If you believe that the Tea Party movement will EVER have any influence on Romney whatsoever, much less comparable to the corrupt Wall Street corporate crowd who financed his campaign of character assassination against each and every worthy Republican candidate in exchange for Lucifer only knows what promises of gummint graft:

If you think a Congress led by soulless trash and special interest money-grubbing corruptocrats in GOP drag like Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy, McConnell is going to do anything other than what Mittler tells them to do (which will not be pretty):

If you think that Paul Ryan (who represents the district which is about five miles north of me and betrayed my quite conservative Congressman Don Manzullo for opposing further increases in the debt limit which the leaders lust for as will Romney) is some sort of future conservative political secular messiah:

Do you also believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny? That Amelia Earhart and Judge Crater are alive and well and awaiting their rescuers?

I gather you are referencing Dubya when calling Bush a "blue dog rat." If you think Dubya was a blue dog rat, you ain't seen nuthin' yet until you see a Romney presidency. Mittler will make us remember Dubya as worthy of Mount Rushmore by comparison with Mittler, a lifelong pro-abort, a lifelong gun grabber, a life-long gushy cheerleader for all things rump-ranger, an appointer of judges who will remind us that Roberts and Alito were extremely worthy additions to SCOTUS compared to any trash that Mittler would appoint.

I also really hate to have a GOP candidate whose entire stance is dishonest on every issue that counts. And for the very first time, I won't be voting for the GOP ticket for POTUS and VPOTUS. From Nixon in 1968 to McCain in 2008 I have voted exclusively GOP at that level. The GOP will have to do a LOT better than warning me that the Demonrat is the boogieman to get my vote from here on out.

Tom Hoefling for POTUS, a vote that won't make me have to apologize to my Maker in November or when my final time comes. I have plenty of faults and have engaged in plenty of disobedience in my lifetime. Voting for Romney won't be added to the burden I bear.

I also love the way no Romney supporter here identifies him/herself as such without the ritual of explaining that, of course, Romney was not his/her first choice (or tenth choice for that matter). In your case, based upon your posting history here and although I certainly disagree with you from time to time, I don't doubt that Romney was no favorite of yours. OTOH, if you vote for him, you have bought the results of that vote. If he is elected, another five million babies die and he won't lift a finger to resist, fudge-packing posing as "marriage" will become a national norm with his "civilized" ruling class airhead support, the GOP brand will be permanently destroyed and we will have to destroy the party and replace it. AND financial corruption as a payoff to his backers will make the "Chicago Way" look like Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

I think that most conservatives would have coalesced behind Sarah Palin but she declined to run. She and not Mittler is that living embodiment of the Tea Party movement and most other conservative values. We did have far too many candidates to choose from. It is a mistake that should never be allowed to happen again. Movement leadership MUST choose a nominee long before the primaries begin. We must take back control of the RNC, change the rules, refuse to allow MSM run debates (primary or general election) just as we routinely reject the opinions of the American Bar Association on judges, and we must determine to absolutely punish ANY future candidate who runs the sort of lavishly funded primary campaign of lies and character assassination that was Romney's 2012 campaign.

When this year's election is history, no matter WHO wins, conservatives must unite to destroy the winner starting on election night and to undermine, reject and replace the "GOP" leadership in each house of Congress and to systematically exterminate politically as many spineless moderates in House and Senate as possible, using third party candidates as necessary to discipline the offenders. Are you willing to help with that???

As was posted earlier in the thread (and for some reason, wouldn’t accept a reply) there are some of us who live in states SOOOOOOOOOOO deeply blue as to not have a snowball’s chance in hell to see obama NOT get the state.

Some of us are used to our votes not counting for anything except in some local or smaller elections.

I have the luxury of casting a protest vote for president.

Same for Senate.

However in the House vote, our incumbent (Ann Marie Buerkle) just squeaked in last election over a dem incumbent. She’s got a tough fight for her seat and I will vote for her if I have to crawl to the polling place.

For those who plan on casting protest votes, before they’re shredded for it, it would be good for those doing the shredding to consider the circumstances.

Here in NY, we CAN’T overcome the momentum of NYC. Perhaps if ALL the rest of the state, including ALL the cities Upstate, voted ONLY Republican, we might have a chance, but since all the Upstate cities vote blue, obama taking NY is a done deal.

Tom gets my vote if he’s on the ballot.
