I'm gonna start posting a tiny violin every time Jeff falls back on his cancer story to try and turn the conversation away from mormonism. A LOT of FReepers have and DO deal with cancer...it doesn't instill sainthood into ANY of us who are dealing with it.
"Persecution", "victim hood", the fall-back position of any mormon who is challenged to admit to the factual description of Joseph Smith's scam. It's been going on for more than a century, and when Mitt loses they will have even MORE fodder for their whines.
When the votes are all in and Mitt goes down, we will see a tantrum the likes of which FR has never seen before.
It's the left favorite rhetorical cheat, as best exemplified by their noxious cossetting and cuddling of foul, opportunistic Cindy Sheehan. ("You absolutely MUST bow down before her non-negotiable demands, conservative America! SHE LOST HER SON!!!")
A cheap, desperate ploy for the reader's sentiment, after failing to win the argument via intellect -- nothing more, nothing less.
You know, I feel very sorry for Jeff and what he has gone through. Many Mormons who experience this type of thing are overwhelmed by the necessity to DO MORE once they have escaped death.
My Mormon MIL died in April of this year. She was absolutley terrified of death, I mean honestly, I’ve been bedside when my Mormon father died, and my Mormon grandfather, and even though they were very frightened of the judgement that was to come, they were not terrified like MIL. Honestly she screamed and held my arm as we talked about her impending death - she KNEW she wasn’t good enough, she did not know the blessed assurance that Christians know when they face the final moment.
I don’t know where Jeff stands in his relationship to Christ - only Jeff and God have that knowledge, but isn’t it wonderful that today, this very hour, Jeff can fall to his knees before Christ and acknowledge that Christ has done the final work - it is finished, there is nothing left to do but fall lovingly into his arms.
Jeff, I’m here to testify to you that there are no movies to watch, or handshakes through the veil. ..no names you must remember. It is fine with Christ that you have not learned enough to create a world, you don’t have to die thinking that the test is still to come.
There will be a small minority of Christians who will vote against the Mormon. The rest will vote for a better economy. Neither will decide the election, that's up to the largely clueless "independents"
