Jump where?

I was speaking metaphorically of course. But yours is an interesting question. And perhaps there is an answer in the literal sense. How about, "away"? I would say the majority on this forum, as well as in the national electorate, who identify themselves as conservatives generally vote as Republicans. However, cycle after cycle of more and more progressive Republican leadership has led us to this day where the vanguard of the Republican party is a pro-abortion, pro-guncontrol, pro-homosexualization, pro-stimulus, pro-bailout, pro-healthcareransoming candidate. Is this the new Republican Party? Is this the platform that unites contemporary Republicans? If the answer is "yes", and I do sincerely believe that electing Romney into the highest office in the land under the Republican banner is a resounding answering of "yes", then we self-identifying conservatives need to "jump away" from the new Republican party. Not only do they utterly fail to represent us, but they are outright antagonistic to our ideals and the vision of our Founders for this nation. If we distance ourselves from them, they will either realize their error and rejoin us, or we will leave them powerless without a base of support. If we remain with them, we sacrifice everything that has united us in the Republican Party since 1854. We succumb. In 2012 I have chosen to jump to the Constitution Party as they have a candidate on my state's ballot and espouse values that better represent conservative America. We'll see what 2016 brings. But for as long as the Republican party platform contains such rotting planks, I will jump away from it. Each passing year I believe more will join me, though I do wish the GOP would turn a new leaf instead. That's my take. What is yours?

***I recently took a jump of my own. Until a few days ago, I was going to write in a conservative republican at the top of the ticket. Straight republican ticket, straight conservative. But after a few pings with Tom Hoefling (Eternal Vigilance) here on FR, I have decided to take the leap to whatever his party is for the top spot. Basically, I’m giving the nod to the FReeper who’s in the race. I’ve heard the expression, “all politics is local”, and there’s no one more local than another FReeper whom I know is conservative.
