I’m thinking that, given a chance to vote in a fair election, America might be only 20 states - ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, IL, CA, OR, WA, HI, NM, WI, MI, and IA. Losers move out to preferred states.

Mutual defense pact and mutual trade (no teriffs) would keep both sides safe. Otherwise, go your own way.

There are a lot of states like Maryland and Vermont which you could take one or two counties out of and they’d be perfectly normal red states. If the country ever really does split up, we need to ensure it’s along county lines and not by states.

I agree with the center point of his comment and would have stated: it would have been better if the states had won the war of northern aggression.
