Really?....Just because he is a famous “ Boy Kennedy” a nurse is supposed to know that there are no marital, pending divorce issues, or child custody issues going on? When did they start handing out crystal balls or mind reading machines with R.N. degrees?
Really? They are just to take the word of a doctor that they might not even met or seen before and the word of a friend from **that** dysfunctional family? Do the nurses know for certain that this man is a doctor?
And...Honestly, I can't imagine an ethical doctor asking a nurse to risk her job, risk his own professional reputation, and break such and important kidnapping standard just for something as **trivial*** as a stroll outside. ( That doesn't make sense to me either in this story.) If the doctor were a real friend to this spoiled brat, he would have explained this to the “Kennedy-boy” and advised him to wait for a safe discharge from the hospital before strolling about with his infant.
It is **exactly** for reasons like this, above, that protocols are in place for the protection of the infant, and it would be very unusual for mothers and fathers not to be well informed of these rational hospital protocols well before admission.
As a nurse, I have seen many screwed up social situations.
That is why hospital policies are in place.
For example: What if this Kennedy creep beat up his wife( birth mother) at home? The mother confides to the nurse that she is going to leave her husband upon discharge from the hospital. Now, the husband is leaving the floor with the baby.
There is a reason why these procedures are in place, because hospitals see extreme, horrible home situations all the time. Daily.
