He sits in the US House as a Republican and he polls well enough to qualify for the debates.

He’s a Libertarian, and he’ll likely run under their banner.

He’s dangerously out to lunch on foreign policy but he has his goof ball followers.

They are escalated diplomatic steps used to try to prevent an upcoming war.

We should be using diplomacy rather than threats and hostility.

Well, all right, Ron, you've convinced me. I say we should be as friendly to Iran as they are to us. All one big happy family. Wait...what's that I'm hearing over there? "Death to America"?

Maybe the Iranians should be using diplomacy rather than threats and hostility. Go tell them that, Ron. Let us know how that works out for you.

“Fortunately there is another way. Nothing promotes peace better than free trade. Countries that trade with each other generally do not make war on each other, as both countries gain economic benefits they do not want to jeopardize.”

Paul needs to remember President Reagan’s words on the irrationality of middle eastern politics. Ahmadinejad and his radical base aren’t looking for “bread and peace.” They’re looking to make Iran the dominant nation in the region, and having nuclear weaponry is a key element to that goal.

>>>”We must change our foreign policy to one of economic freedom and diplomacy. That is the only way to promote peace and prosperity. This race to war against Iran and Syria is both foolhardy and dangerous.”<<<

Taking just the last 60 yrs, post WW2, there has been nothing but War in the ME in particular. Why? One answer: Human beings are not into “peace & prosperity” - they’ll always find a (their own) reason(s) for starting another war.

Wow. And there are some people who really think this dude would make a great President. Absolutely absurd.

Overt international meddling is not the same as covert international meddling(spying)..

A line by line analysis of this statement could take all evening into the morning. Rarely has one pronouncement been so rife with faulty assumptions and misinterpretations of reality.

One line stands out apart from Paul's usual garden variety lunacy:

"We should be using diplomacy rather than threats and hostility. "

Evidently, Ron Paul has now become a medium. He is obviously channeling the ghost of Neville Chamberlain. I would not be at all surprised to see a Paul campaign slogan with the words "Peace for our time."

What makes this all so absurd is the fact that we are not dealing with a disingenuous liar like Hitler. Machmood Armanidinnerjacket has made his intentions and goals plain. He's looking for the 12th Imam, whose coming is ~not~ presaged with flower petals and Kum-bye-yah.

Blockades are acts of war. Sanctions are a gray area due to differences in how they are enforced.

I think both are fine to use against hostile countries, but they are indeed acts of war.

When have sanctions ever accomplished anything? It seems to me it’s always a cursory step before the bombing begins.

Ron Paul is a nuttier version of Pat Buchannan. He would have supported Hitler. It sure smells like the congressman is not only weird, but an all-out anti-Semite.

Crazy uncle Ron fails to grasp the obvious. Iran has been at war with the U. S. since 1979. Iran is an existential threat to the Untied States. Period. Even the hapless and totally inept Jimmy Carter understood that concept.
