They're also not mentioning how many are downgrading back to XP.

Most people who buy Win7 intentionally, do so for the purpose of upgrading to it, and won't be downgrading back to XP. And, the vast majority of people who make new computer purchases will get Win7 with it and won't be downgrading those systems to XP or won't know how to do it or will just consider downgrading too much of a hassle.

So, though there may be do downgrading to XP, it won't be enough to make a dent in the number of Win7 systems.

Doubtful many home users will downgrade to XP. Unlike Vista Win 7 on new computers runs pretty good. I installed it on a P4 and only had to add some RAM and it works good enough. I even made it look exactly like XP with the Classic start menu installed.

My only complaint is for basic tasks it doesn't do anything more than XP does and in fact in comparison I find XP to be faster and more responsive. But Win 7 is definitely the OS of the future, even if it takes longer to get there than Microsoft wants.
