Abraham Lincoln ultimately ordered the deaths, starvation and homelessness of a lot of men, women and children in the name of big government. I understand you have sensitivity issues over the man, but that’s a personal problem that you’ll need to balance with some reality and facts.

He also thinks Lincoln 'had a war to fight to free the slaves'...how can some folks here be so uninformed of history?

"If I could save the Union without freeing any slaves, I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it, and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also so that" from Abe to Horace 08/1862

Lincoln fought to stop the South from leaving...as did all Yankees....it's fantasy to think otherwise ....Ted Turner's BS docudramas notwithstanding

it's painfully easy to brainwash folks

"Big Government" in Lincoln's time was today's "little government".

The Dixiecrat compromises allowed entirely too much government growth. I blame this on Theodore Bilbo, et al.

Absolute nonsense.
