He also thinks Lincoln 'had a war to fight to free the slaves'...how can some folks here be so uninformed of history?
"If I could save the Union without freeing any slaves, I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it, and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also so that" from Abe to Horace 08/1862
Lincoln fought to stop the South from leaving...as did all Yankees....it's fantasy to think otherwise ....Ted Turner's BS docudramas notwithstanding
it's painfully easy to brainwash folks

Yup, the Confederacy was a foreign enemy that attacked the United States of America.

Lincoln is the Stalin of American history.
Obama is correct to compare himelf to Lincoln. Both are half assed attorneys, full fledged bigots, and put their own ideologies over the reality of other people’s lives.

You will find I am intolerant to the point of violence in the face of insults to Abraham Lincoln.
*****************************
That is appropriate.
Lincoln’s intolerance was legendary and his first resort was violence as well.

So was Great Britain... an we got over that
Not so both of you. For shame you don't even know the life of General Lee.
Please read about Robert E. Lee, one of the greatest generals in the history of western civilization.
You'll see that the Federals, not the United States, attacked Virginia. When Virgina seceded he went home from West Point because Virginia, in the modern parlance, was his HOMELAND.
The Federals marched on Virginia, and the war was begun. It became the war of the 'United States' when Lincoln drafted unwilling soldiers fto fight on the behalf of the Federals. He literally had to send in the militia in New York city, to subdue the unwilling draftees.
That did not happen in Virginia, where Virgina's sons willingly came to her defense, unlike today's citizenry.

We tried. The result was a collective honor killing by the rejected other half.

Considering that in the War of 1812 the British burned the White House and attacked other US interests ... I would like to know how you come to the conclusion that the British never attacked the United States.

Lincoln was a liberator, not a Stalin.
The Yankee army enters Red Clay, Georgia as related by Illinois soldier Charles Partridge:
"The Union citizens were quite demonstrative, some of them even bringing out flags, which had doubtless been hidden for at least three years. Women swung their bonnets and men hurrahed for the Yankees and the Union, manifesting great delight. One man, who claimed to be ninety-eight years old and to have been a captain in the War of 1812, was almost frantic in his ejaculations when the Old Flag came into sight."

That's really interesting. Are you speaking of the southern parts of Northern states because most accounts I've read and researched showed showed quite a bit of pillaging, rape, deliberate destruction of crops and homes and in some cases...outright torture by those Yankee troops. Although they came to free the slaves, ironically, the free black people and slaves didn't fare much better when it came to property damage and molestation of women. It seems the tales those Yanks had heard made it hard to believe that any black person in the South could actually own property and viewed the women as chattel.
I am sure you could name a few Southern towns in the border states who where glad to see the Yankee army but I wouldn't characterize it as "by many in Southern towns." That's just ridiculous.

Wow. Quite a false statement there! It was in no way foreign. The very blood and soil of the Confederacy was domestic.
