Supposedly Dr. West was the father of her college friend. So I can see a casual lunch and casual questions. As to her memory about 48 years later, who knows. I remember some things back to when I 2 years old, yet other stuff I can not recall from 10 years ago.

She might even be a complete liar. Who knows. The point is, there has to be some level of credibility to believe Dr. West was the proper doctor. If he was indeed retired at age 46, then he probably wasn’t O’s baby doctor. Nelson is either wrong or lying.

But, was he retired? 46 seems a young age to retire with a few kids, but he may have been rich. The picture shows an older man, before his retirement. Two other bios indicate he worked until his 70’s.

So, can we truly say, as an answer to Nelsons’ story, that he was retired. At the very least, the question is open.

parsy, who says this is why birther thread serve some useful function

He did, and volunteered at Pearl Harbor until just before he died. But he "retired" from delivering babies at age 46. He didn't go home and just sit around. He laready lived in Hawaii, so he didn't a long Hawaiian vaction either. :) Basically, he became an adminstrator, and active in various medical associations, after that.
