...Palin endorses John McCain?
Top ten...
1) She's just "playing the game". Standing on principle and voting the RINO's out is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with Sarah becoming prez.
2) If Sarah says supporting RINO's is okay, that's good enough for me. The Messiah is infallible and what do I know?.
3) She's not being inconsistent, she's making a tactical retreat, but hey that's politics.
4) A smart move by the smartest woman in the world.
5) She didn't want to but the dims threatened to file an ethics complaint if she didn't.
6) She's not quiting, she's reloading.
7) What endorsement? That wasn't an endorsement she was repaying a political favor. Everyone does it.
8) That was part of her master plan to make dims and the MSM fear her even more...if that's even possible.
9) C'mon, McCain wasn't THAT bad...
10) Who cares? Look at those LEGS!
Codeword is NOT a picture, especially when aimed at Jim Rob as it is accusing him of being Jim Jones, a murderer.
Big difference.
However, because "koolaid" has been used SO often as codeword for you-know-what, it has conferred a ubiquity, a commoness that frankly you-know-what should NEVER been imparted.
Bob J must have dozens of humorous photos bookmarked away, as over the years, he's posted 100s, if not indeed 1000s of photographs in place of words as a reply in his posts.
But NO, drinking the koolaid infers being part of a dangerously cultish group of people.
Personally, though, I don't think that cults should become objects of humor, it takes away from their inherently negative dangerous evil.
oh man, i’ll have to look it up...i asked him a question on that thread about the documentary he had made and he was pretty dismissive...oh well!
and yes...quite arrogant
Question for Palinistas. What will you say when...
Do you by any chance know what that means? Bob J hasn't posted in quite a while, I wonder if he's lurkin' about, reading about other topics?
She feels to me to be the type of individual about whom that olde adage was written, to wit: Don't get angry; get EVEN.
She's not the type of person to stoop to Little Katie Couric stoopidity, nor to say something so rude as Meg Whitman did when she described the Governor's debate performance against Joe Biden, by dismissively saying, "It was good enufff."
Palin is above that kind of infantile juvenile behavior.
Kool-aid is a FR metaphor for being misled.
LOL ... he is just about as ‘dainty’ as that guy.
More like eagerly allowing one's self to be misled off a cliff, or to drink the poisonous kool aid because of a cult like mentality.
Bob J hasn't posted in quite a whileContrary to popular opinion, Bob J actually **does** have life -- outside of FR. :o)I wonder if he's lurkin' about, reading about other topics?
So, my best guess is that he has "left the building" -- as they say -- temporarily.I've known Bob for a LONG time, so I think that I understand where he's comimg from, with these "Palinista"-baiting threads.
We've FReeped together MULTIPLE times back in the day, so I know that his heart is in the right place. But Bob and Jim Robinson have known each other for MUCH longer than I have known either one of them -- so I'm sure that they understand each other VERY WELL.
So well, in fact, that they each know JUST how far to push the other one, without REALLY pissing them off, permanently. And, like ANY two really good old friends, who have known each other for a REALLY LONG time, they can sometimes appear (to us outsiders) to be angrier at each other than they really are.
IMHO. :o)
*sigh*
Aren’t you banned, yet? I just noticed; your initials are BJ.
I made no value judgment on supporting Hayworth’s run, or not supporting it. What I said was what I said. If Hayworth does NOT challenge McCain, and therefore is NOT the ‘conservative’ candidate over and against the RINO McCain, then OBVIOUSLY there’s no issue here at all as to who Sarah Palin might “support”. Anything Hayworth has done that’s not ethical could be easily matched side-by-side with what McCain has done.
KOOLAID means alot more than being "misled" -- that's like trying to tell me that something like, Oh-dont-be-silly, on FR, murder means a post got zapped.
Incorrect use of a term or misunderstanding a metaphor does NOT give it an entirely new meaning.
If I'm reading his postings correctly, Bob J is an individual who strikes me as being deeply concerned about BHO winning another term in office.
Since that is inconceivable to me, I have some difficulty being totally empathic with his intense fear about Governor Palin's readiness for either campaigning or for holding office -- any office.
I think most Americans would like to see a CITIZEN go to D.C. as president, and I believe that Citizen Palin will be elected. Too many of the things he worries about are her strong points -- she is no ivy league elite multimillionaire who holds the rest of America in contempt.
Bob J likes Governor Palin. He's say repeatedly that his greatist fear is that her supporters will all "jump ship" if she doesn't win the nomination, but I think he is confusing the expressions of support for Governor Palin with behavior seen in cults.
I don't believe this is accurate.
I believe that much of the emotion that he apparently finds so repugnant is predicated upon this time period being such a literally depressing fearful time in the USA and in the world - there are so many problems. Governor Palin is a ray of light in an otherwise very darkened subdued reality, and thus the exhuberance is greater.
And besideswhich, since when has Bob J had to contend with any Republican ever having the "problem" of excessive charisma???? LOL
It seems odd to me that you could use the phrase, "Jonestown moment" or "final glass of koolaid" or any number of phrases that older Americans all realize refer to either Jim Jones or Jamestowns or innumerable other suicidally dangerous cults.
YOU are not communicating with your audience.
I was so amazed that there are some freepers who believe that the photograph of Jonestown seriously meant that you called JR a murderer, that I remain speechless --- that photograph has NOTHING to do with either Jim Robinson or with Sarah Palin --- but obviously, you had NO idea how it would be taken.
Anyway, good by and good luck to you.
Regards,
HP
Drinking the Kool-Aid - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The phrase Drinking the Kool-Aid means to become a firm believer in something, to accept an argument or philosophy wholeheartedly or blindly. The term originated with the Jonestown Massacre.
The term has its origins in the events of the Jonestown cult suicide. Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple, had persuaded followers to move to Jonestown, Guyana and found a commune. In November of 1978, faced with exposure, he had congressman Leo Ryan killed and ordered the residents to commit suicide by drinking a flavored beverage laced with potassium cyanide. Those unable to comply, such as infants, and those unwilling to comply received involuntary injections. Roughly 918 people died......
In an earlier post I misidentified Ken Kesey as the author of a book, but actually the book was written ABOUT Ken Kesey and the author was Tom Wolfe and the name of his classic is, THE ELECTRIC KOOL AID ACID TEST; and so the alternate meaning of the phrase "drinking the koolaid" is to injest LSD, an illegal hallucinogenic drug.
Perhaps you can find a better metaphor for what you are trying to communicate, for although both "koolaid" and cults in general are considered 'funny & foolish' nowadays, the fact remains that they are very very very dangerous, and that few people have read much about them. And it seems that very few people have ever read about THE TRUE BELIEVER.
Are those magic underpants in that video?
