"The point is that “natural born” (the English term) did not come from Vattel." Um Justice Marshall doesn't seem to agree with your assertion! He seems to be asserting that the Constitutional term was in fact derived in meaning from Vattel:

Justice Marshall writing in the minority opinon in the Venus case defined native born, or indigenes:

The Supreme Court of the United States in THE VENUS relied upon Vattel’s “Law of Nations” as the authority in determining the citizenship status of a “domicil”. With regard to Vattel, THE VENUS court written in the minority specifically stated, “Vattel, …is more explicit and more satisfactory on it [CITIZENSHIP ISSUES] than any other whose work has fallen into my hands, says, ‘the citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or indigenes, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.

The White House operates an Internet War Room of paid and unpaid posters that have infiltrated both left and right discussion websites — FreeRepublic and Daily Kos were mentioned. The purpose of this network is specifically to marginalize the legitimacy of the birth issues.

I guess we all suspected this already, but it is comforting (or discomforting) to have it confirmed by people with documented affidavits.
