Yup, Kenya declared independence from England, Dec. 12, 1963 and the Republic was declared Dec. 12, 1964. But what did they call their country in anticipation before they officially became a Republic?

They probably, out of exuberance, printed all govt docs with “Republic” as soon as they declared Independence. They sure didn't want to continue with anything that had Britain associated with it. I was just looking at the time-line.
