Salamander provided a link to some fonts that match the typed portion of the document pretty well, see post 1445 for the link. So the typewritten portion of the document in the photo could have been produced with a 1964 typewriter. So far so good. Now looking at the printed part of the document, such text as "Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages..." near the bottom right. Is that font a period font that would have been used in 1964?

I can't answer that question but it looks a little too consistent to me. I have a 1964 document printed by the City of Boston and the printed text has darker and lighter portions within the same font. This is particularly true nearer the sides and edges of my document. I don't see that on the photograph of the document in this thread. I have to agree with bvw in post 1848 so far. But my analysis is woefully inadequate and anecdotal so I will stay agnostic and hope someone does a better job.

Those fonts were from a 1913 Universal model, IIRC. What we need is one closer to the 50’s to early 60’s. I still say find a Royal typewriter.

I have farmland abstracts in N.Dak with entries from 1907 fwd, and 1907 N.Dak is probably similar tech avail to 1961 Kenya.

The Font and typewritten abstract updates (purch, sale, mortgages, foreclosures etc) are very consistent done on the parchment paper of the time.

Well, thank you for that much; it would seem to be a start. There are still an awful lot of questions.
