...David Canter was the left’s choice for editor of the University of Chicago student newspaper “Maroon” in 1948.

That's the same year Paul Robeson, beloved of Stalin, is reputed to have persuaded Frank Marshall Davis to move to Hawaii. The University of Chicago is where Stanley Ann Dunham's uncle, Charles Payne, was Deputy Head of the university library...Madelyn Dunham was his sister.

It was the elder Canter who translated and brought the writings of Lenin to Chicago.
