Good-bye.
A few months ago, I posted some information on bank financial strength. The post was a complex table and it took me sometime to make the post. Not long after, I forget but perhaps 10 or 20 minutes, the post disappeared. Figuring I made a mistake, I posted it again. This time I was pretty sure I posted it correctly. It disappeared within a few minutes. To verify that this was what was happening, I posted a third time. It again disappeared immediately.
I never received any feedback from FreeRepublic on this matter.
It annoyed me, but since I have always trusted FR, and since I have so far as I know maintained a sterling reputation here as a well behaved citizen for the eight or ten years I've been here, I shook my head in confusion and forgot that incident.
Just tonight I posted a more controversial post involving 9/11. It disappeared within minutes (after I had verified that the post succeeded).
Again, no notice public or private, before or after the fact. Just poof.
Good-bye.
I will cancel future monthly FR donations and leave. I cannot support a political discussion and news site which makes seriously intended posts by long standing contributors of good standing just disappear without notice, public or private, before or after.
The SanityIsland.us site, with some Daily Dose images, will remain around likely for one year, then go away without further notice. I may be reached via email at pj@usa.net (yes, I have excellent spam filters.)
Sites have a right to do as they please, but also a responsibility to stand up for the actions they take, at least involving participants acting in good faith. FR apparently is failing to honor this responsibility.
I would ask that in the future removals of posts made in good faith by members in good standing at least be recognized in private messages to the poster after the fact, stating the approximate cause for removal. Even a 'boilerplate' explanation would be better than nothing.
I wish this fine community and the good people here well. This nation is in dire need of honest reporting and discussion.
Lets break out the fireworks.
Come on, this thread has been fun. Consider staying around.
The mods don't take kindly to the kind of anti-Semitic crap that infests the link you provided. No wonder they pulled your post.
Well, it seems to me that you were pissed off but not pissed on so why not just chalk it up to experience? Tomorrow is another day.
Well I suppose I can always go google 9/11 truther if need be to see what makes one a 9/11 truther, I surmise it must be a strictly a liberal thing, that's why FR doesn't allow discussion of it.
You are a brave soul. Living in the SF Bay Area, that would be a sure way to get my car keyed.
Sorry you are leaving. There's a lot of cr@p posted on FR, but the conspiracy stuff is not the worst. In my opinion, 90% of the vanity posts should be zotted. Also, everything pertaining to celebrities, with the possible exception of their obituaries. But 9/11 should be an open topic. An event of such enormous impact should have been investigated with far more diligence than it was.
Nikita Kruschev called the strategy half a century ago:
“We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism.”
I can prophecy that your grandchildren in America will live under socialism.
Our firm conviction is that sooner or later Capitalism will give way to Socialism. Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you.”
The United States will eventually fly the Communist red flag. The American people will hoist it themselves.
Nikita Krushchev, July 19, 1962

Thank you for that quote. I only remember hearing about the “We will bury you” part. It is scary what’s happening now...the Left has been tirelessly working on controlling this country for decades. And yes, Free Republic is a life line.
I order you to stay!!!
***I order you to stay!!!***
At least till you break 200 post. This is like a Ron Paul thread, it keeps growing and growing.
I would have provided a link to the article from somewhat more reputable site, however all the (slightly) more reputable sites I could find mentioning the article only had excerpts, with links back to the original posting site. That original posting site was down. So I was left with that *****.net site.
Granted, if the mods had gotten a bit further before deciding, they might well have pulled my thread on account of the site I linked to ;).
There’s a Viagra thread. Maybe we could combine them.
No?
Obama's fault!
Those of use who have been around here a long time have read the opus' (opie?, LOL!), seen the schisms, but in the end FR still stands as the most informative, timely, and fun - Woo-Hoo - conservative site on the web. And, at this time of trouble for our country we don't need to be splitting or losing FRiends again.
Many of us have had post pulled for one reason or another. Some pulls might have been unwarranted and I agree with you that it would be courteous for the Mods to at least FReepmail a reason for the pull. That might not be possible though, and could lead to a time consuming - for the Mods - exchange.
IIRC I've had threads pulled. One was one of the first posts, if not THE first post, of the Red State/Blue State map that was in USA today. I think somewhere in the remarks I questioned if the map was defining the boundaries for the next US civil war. Of course since then the map has been posted and similar remarks made. Sooo, big deal. I didn't take offense, in fact I view it more as I was ahead of the curve, LOL. I think JR was the one who pulled the thread, and I believe I did get a note explaining the action.
Another time I posted a thread about the reflectors on the backs of highway signs being a code for terrorists. It was supposed to be humor but the Mods didn't see it that way so it was pulled. After re-reading the article I could understand how someone might not understand that it was humor.
Bottom line in both cases was so what. The posts didn't mean much to me. I could let it go easily. It's kinda like when people criticize my radio work or admittedly really poor guitar playing. The way I see it if they don't like it it's their loss. After over 25 years in radio if someone is in my studio and thinks they can do a better job on the air I sit 'em down at the board and say "go for it." It's funny watching them freeze or fail.
So step back a couple of days, lurk awhile, visit other sites then gird yourself for the next round and come back into the fray.
We need each and everyone of us, especially experienced posters.

That's too bad. Texas is so full of...uh...Texans.
Two hundred, here we come.
And they tend to last for several days.
