Who knows.

We don’t know everything about them.

However, the lights often demonstrate some very very strange capabilities for “lights.”

Maybe it’s partly a demonstration in such capacities to awe the natives.

1. Lights are seen extending down from ships but the light shaft visibly halting XX feet above the ground.

2. Lights are seen ‘lifting objects’ into the craft.

3. Lights are seen which have visual and even emotional qualities about them which no other lights are known to have.

4. Lights have been seen to function more or less as conveyor belts.

However, the lights often demonstrate some very very strange capabilities for “lights.”

If they have the technology to rip open wormholes at will, why would they put a bright light on the outside of their ship that is easily seen by earthbound humans? Why would they leave that light turned on when they are high up in the atmosphere? It's obviously not helping them to see anything. And they are wormhole-traveling advanced beings. They don't need the light to avoid collisions.
