McCain fired Scheunemann, the only staffer defending Sarah. Don’t doubt that this comes from the top. He knows there is going to be a battle for the heart and soul of the GOP, and he knows Sarah represents the conservatives he passionately hates.

If McCain had run a stable campaign and worked to get everyone on board, he could have won. He’s too invested in keeping people off balance. It paid off with Sarah Palin, but to win he needed all the help he could get. He wanted to do all it his way and it cost him the election.
