I posted several times during the last few weeks that McCain’s ego is bigger than Palin’s popularity.

I am sure it grated on him that she was drawing tens-of-thousands while he was drawing only hundreds.

I made a comment in the live thread about the seeming awkward body language between McCain and Palin during his concession speech. And I thought it strange that she was not given the opportunity to address the crowd.

That spoke volumes; yet, many deny the recent reports of tensions between the McCain factions and Palin factions.

I posted weeks ago that, if they did win, McCain would marginalize VP Palin to obscure VP duties. I re-affirm my assertion.

Now, we are seeing a full-fledged war developing between the country-club big-business globalist faction and the conservative faction of the GOP. Too bad it didn’t happen after the 2006 slaughter.

I regret swallowing and voting for McCain. I wish he had lost by a landslide. He has been a POX on the republican party and I am afraid he still has an undue amount of influence.

Country First my ass....he is trying to keep his own legacy a float by letting this happen. This shows his true political cowardice.

I worked hard to get McCain elected because, in the words of another FReeper, "only Obama could make me vote for McCain".

This is my view of McCain's legacy:

Death to idiotic vanities, searing pain to those who post them.

To all of you crying RINO, centrists, not staying with the GOP crowds.

Let me lay a few clues on you before you go off the deep end.

One, the RINO's are going to be with us, no matter how you try to get rid of them, there is enough lambs wool to go around.

Two, leaving the GOP means leaving a complete financial organization from business to government insight. Don't cut your nose off.

Three, The structure of the Republican party is what needs to change. Remove the 'old Guard' that FORGOT what Reagan did to win and win big, and we will be ok.

Four, this election should have woken you up to what kind of candidates we need not only running as candidates, but running for office. Start identifying them now, start supporting them now. 2 years from now, half the Senate and half the House is up for election, That is when we need to exert control of the party.

I agree. Find a good conservative Republican to run against McCain for the senate in 2010... when he let his people trash Palin he screwed up...

I still have no proof that she is conservative besides some rhetoric throughout the campaign.

What has been woefully under reported and under advertised by her is her record in Alaska

Did she put a lid on spending? Did she cut taxes? Did she reduce the size of the government?

If she ain’t a fiscal conservative, well she isn’t much of a conservative. The SoCons need to step back for a bit, because the battles to be fought over the next decade will be over the fiscal future of our country, not the culture war
