I’m not going to say much because with 100 replies in front of me I am sure that a lot of other FReepers have already made the points I would, but I just want to say I hope there are not too many Americans that are as dumb as you.

Could hardly agree more. Thing is, I truly believe that the Good Lord gave Sarah to us as a country saving gift and that it is on us to recognize it as such.

Republicans "go negative" when they don't have any positive heritage to stand on. The only way guys like McCain can appear "good" is to completely demonize their opposition....., which with Obama is a relatively easy task, of course, but that is NOT THE POINT!
I want someone whose great appeal is NOT that he will keep the shackles of state slavery in place, but just put nice cushions on them for me. I want someone who will simply say with clarity, force, and good cheer "FREEDOM WORKS! Here is HOW we are going to make it work:" (at this point I have my own list, but I am already too verbose). Reagan did that. Jack Kemp was largely that way. Steve Forbes (goshawful communicator that he is!) runs that way. We have literally NOTHING to point to to convince people they should vote for us. Hell, they are having a hard time getting ME to vote for us, and I have been a party operative!

By the way. If you are looking at someone REALLY worth supporting on the Republican ticket, look at the Congressional candidate in NC named BJ Lawson. He is the real deal.

I agree 100%. The problem is that negative campaigning rarely makes me feel negative about the opponent. It usually makes me feel negative about the campaigner. NO ONE in this world is perfect. If all you have to run on are your opponent’s weaknesses, what does that say about you?
There is SO MUCH wrong with Obama, but when I hear McCain out there on the stump talking about little else than demonizing Obama, it doesn’t turn me against Obama. It turns me against McCain. What is your plan? What do you stand for? If I don’t know, I won’t vote for you, no matter how bad the opposition is.
Being “not Obama” is not enough to earn my vote. As Aaron Tippin puts it, “you’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.”
My dream is that Jindal runs in 2012 and goes 90% positive with his campaign. I think he would be a complete steamroller.
