PHOENIX — The mother of a 17-month-old boy found dead after he was left unattended inside a hot car for at least seven hours in a north Phoenix Hooters restaurant was arrested on one felony count of negligent homicide.
Police say the woman, Ashly Duchene, 22, left her son in her car when she arrived at the north Phoenix Hooters restaurant where she works at about 10 a.m. Tuesday. When she returned to the car after her shift at nearly 5 p.m., her son was dead.
Efforts to revive the boy by witnesses, officers and firefighters were unsuccessful. Police Sgt. Joel Tranter said temperatures hit nearly 90 degrees Tuesday, but that it would have been more than 100 degrees inside the car.
FOX 10 Phoenix reports the baby's mother had planned to drop the child off at childcare before heading to work at a restaurant near Bell Road and Interstate 17.
Instead, authorities say the mother went to work with the child still inside the car.

The baby was in a car seat in the backseat of a Honda Civic, which had very dark tinted windows. Officials believe that made him unnoticable to people going in and out of the restaurant and a car wash next door, the Republic reported.
It's unknown if the mother will face any charges in the child's death. Tranter said situations like this are handled "on a case-by-case basis."
So far, there have been no arrests.

I’m glad that since you don’t spend time at “places” like Hooters you would never typecast those who work there, since you have no experience on the matter.
I wonder how many nurses worked at Hooters while going through school? lmao . It must be something else to have such values that you judge people you don’t know..I’m happy to say I don’t have such “VALUES”.
They gave the principle who did the same thing a pass a few months ago and she was educated.

Ha! people who have such values often are the ones whose cars are behind the strip clubs & peepshows too. We had a preacher here who droned on & on about himself, his family, & their “values”. Well his car was always behind the adult book store. His kids were using drugs & the wife was fooling around with a cop. Some values huh?

Who is promoting being a single mother or glorifying hooters? Believe you me, I am sure my daughter would rather have her “Mr. Right” come crawling back....I’m sure she would rather that she was back home, working her full time job and that her youngest son was still in her womb...not born 3 months premature because of a coriangioma tumor in the placenta.

i just heard the policeman on John Gibson’s show. this girls appears to have been charged and is in jail because she was heard to have commented in the past few days/weeks about wishing she was not a parent. Gibson asked if that was a factor in her charging and the cop said, yes. So i guess they are thinking it may have actually been intentional in this case.
Yup. A friend of mine used to own clubs in Kansas about thirty years ago. The town board made it a law that his parking lots had to have fences in front of them. As soon as they went up his clubs were full of local politicians and “good church goin’ folk.”
If she killed her child then she deserves whatever the penalty in her state is. May God have mercy on her.
