There hasn’t been much discussion on this thread about the Malfoy’s. What do you guys think about how JKR tied up their story line? I can see Narcissa and Draco being redeemable but what about Lucius?

The sequel to the series will probably include Draco’s son. Wonder who Draco married?

IMO, they embody what Phineus Nigelus said about Slytherins- they look out for themselves first. They weren’t concerned with the other Hogwarts students, but when it was their kid they were all sorts of cooperative.

Lucius was mortally defeated, and his power stripped from him by Voldemort and by the OOP. All he had left after being stripped of power, was Draco. Once he lost the rest, nothing else mattered.

So, in the extended Potterverse, after the Battle of Hogwarts, The Malfoy family would have each other, but their power outside of their relm, into magic, would be finished, or would be reduced to something archaic - nothing more.

Here's one time I advocate for single motherhood. I got the impression that Narcissa never really bought into the whole thing, but that Lucius sort of dragged her into it. Once she was caught up, she seemed truly disgusted by what was happening, as was Draco, but powerless to do anything about it.

Lucius can no longer deny that he was a willing participant, and a pompous blowhard. If for some reason he's not in Azkaban, I see his future being that of a bitter old man, alone, drowining his sorrows in firewhisky in the corner of Aberforth's pub telling the goats how he "used to be somebody!".
