Article lacks specifics about Giuliani's gun grabbing, etc. It's refreshing not to have to read such logic anymore: "a vote against Rudy is a vote for Hillary" or "Rudy's supporters pay $30k a plate for dinner, what does Hunter get?".
Another noticable change is the absence of a certain crew who insisted Terri was a vegetable and must die if her husband says so. There may be some overlap with the Rudy issue in a fundamental respect for human life irregardless of circumstances or particulars or politics.

Interesting about how there’s a newspaper article about what happened on a website that is “... not what they were in terms of real-world impact [7 years ago]. “
I followed the “April Purge” thread. 90% of the bannings were people throwing themselves off the cliff like a lemming migration. Some I’ll miss, most are no loss to conservative discussion, and the remainder were hired shills anyway.

I am torn between wishing this was true and distrust of any that are NOT outraged that Rudy Giuliani is on the same page with most of what Hitlery Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Al Gore, and Jane Fonda believes..
Rudy Giuliani is all Rhinestones and Hat, NO HAIR..

Well, until I get thrown out of here for posting something someone doesn’t like, I have to say that Jim’s assessment rings true, although I’d say he should have said it will be a dagger to the Republicans rather than the Conservatives. It will be bad for conservatives in the sense Giuliani won’t represent me/us, but I think it will actually be a catalyst for conservatives. It will be devastating for the Republican party because Rudy would be the defacto face of it, and the fact is he isn’t a good choice to represent the overall party.
I am a conservative first, Republican second. Philosophy trumps political party. That’s why we have so many worthless RINOs causing us problems. McCain, Graham? Buehler?
Fred be the man.

the fiery online conservative forum Free RepublicWoo hoo! We're in a fiery place!
So, Rudy supporters are banned now? Swell! I'd have banned them long ago. Jim Rob's got a real long fuse. But, that's not a bad thing to have in a fiery place... :)

I will support whoever wins the primary election for the GOP. I will not vote for Giuliani in the primaries. That said, even if a monkey wins in the primaries, I’d vote for that monkey over Hillary and any & all ‘Rats until I die.

Since when.I visit the site every day and I have seen nothing regarding Giuliani purged from this site.
It makes me the the author is off his meds.

Finally, one popular theory holds that the Free Republic is secretly hoping for another Clinton presidency that would send its Alexa ratings soaring back to levels it hasnt experienced since its halcyon days of the Clinton impeachment,
that is a great point. I have never thought about that angle before

Finally, one popular theory holds that the Free Republic is secretly hoping for another Clinton presidency that would send its Alexa ratings soaring back to levels it hasnt experienced since its halcyon days of the Clinton impeachment, when a since-soured relationship with blog pioneer Matt Drudge and overwhelming anti-Clinton sentiment in Republican ranks helped make Free Republic one of the hottest Web sites in the nation. That might be relevant if FR sold advertising or memberships but, since it does not, such a theory is baseless. And it is certainly a damning accusation to believe JimRob *wants* another Clinton presidency. Isn't that sort of like Spike Jones secretly hoping for another Nazi Germany?

Can't figure out a good opus and can't seem to get purged, so I just keep showing up on FR every day for nearly nine years.
If, unhappily, Rudy becomes the Republican nominee, I may grudgingly vote for him, but it would be the most unpleasant of the ten I will have cast. Not that my vote for him would really matter, as I live in solidly Democratic CaliPornia.

The GOP is already in difficulties for 2008, so don’t fight about Guliani.
Rudy will probably be the candidate of the conservatives, so the debate is not wether Rudy or not but what Rudy for candidate.

The Bold is pure BS! FR's Alexa ratings hit the all time high at the start of the Iraq war.

The Clinton era ratings and traffic are not even close. Actually the whole article looks like an updated version of Anti-Freeper boiler plate. They were, for those who do not know, a small group who spent years bitching on various internet forums about FR. Clown Posse was their last incarnation.
The best thing the purged can do is write Free Republic off and go on with their lives. There are other places to post. Vocal Rudy supporters are not welcome here.

For some reason, Rudy's whole campaign is going to end up as verse from Dylan's song "
"Desolation Row."
The verse "...they are spoon feeding Casanova to get him more assured".
The now fawning media probably has drawer's full of Rolodex's on his negative points, like they do on McCain.
