It is always disappointing to be reminded that there are people in the world who do not like you so much that they are willing to debase themselves and others in order to get their way. We, as conservatives face this from the Left on a day to day basis. But when such action comes from another supposed Conservative, that is truly disappointing.
The posters at DU think nothing of swearing and posting the most filthy, perverted and twisted things about their political rivals. We here at FR are, for the most part, better than that. At least we try to be. Unfortunately, there's always someone who proves that both sides have their ugly side.
I have posted a number of pro-Mitt Romney threads recently as have many others. I discovered this afternoon that several of them have been the victims of childish and down right purile dirty tricks. Now, political dirty tricks are nothing new and nor are they uncommon on either side of the aisle. But some simply cross the line of decency. Such is the case with whomever played their little game of messing with the Keywords on these Pro-Romney threads. Here are four examples:

People, campaigning can be a hard and painful thing. You have to have a thick skin to run for office and heaven knows, all candidates take their blows, some more than others. But there is such a thing as decency. And this little prank doesn't just cross that line, it obliterates it.
Disagree with the thread? Fine. Present your arguments. You don't like the candidate? Great. Tell me why and make an attempt at intelligent conversation. That's the way this place is supposed to work. But, resorting to such sophomoric, vulgar and quite frankly bigoted childishness is beneath contempt. If you can't manage a reasonable level of maturity, then there's a whole bunch of like minds over at DU you can have fun with.
LOL! Hilarious.
The way I remember it we used to have the giant flame bait thread with all the fighting and banning about a week before each freepathon. This time it is during, which is odd.
Of course that could all be coincidence or coincide with full moons or something, I dunno.
Just take two weeks off. Works wonders.
Dirt, they'd have to be self aware to be self-parodying. So that can't be it.
Whatchoo talkin' bout...Willis???
To anyone who has observed the brownshirts who now seem to have overrun FR, it's clear that the current environment is even more toxic than in past election cycles because the nuts now have the sympathy, full-blessing, and the empowerment of the ownership.
Ah, what a martyr.
Given that your candidate is an unabashed liberal, has repeatedly stated his agreements with our party platform, has grabbed guns and tried to use his mayoralty to destroy gun manufacturers, defended partial-birth abortion, is a NARAL Champion Of Choice who was funded by them at four times the rate of even Hitlery, well, the list is just too long to recite.
This is a conservative activist website, something you should know perfectly well after so long. The people here are those in the party who adhere to the party platform the most aggressively. And you act injured and surprised that your liberal candidate isn't welcomed here. Here, of all places.
Now you resort to calling us 'brownshirts'. Now, refresh my memory. Was it the Fascists of Italy or the Nazis of Germany who wore the brownshirts?
You know, if we wanted to be called fascists, we could go hang out at HuffPort or DU. But I'm not surprised because you are engaging in exactly the usual Stalinist rhetoric of the Left. Why? Because you support a leftwing candidate.
I'm especially surprised and disappointed at your reference to JimRob's steady conservative views, well known here after so many years. Because if the majority (by FRpolls) of FReepers are "brownshirts", then that makes JimRob our Hitler (or at least Mussolini). Are you sure you want to stand by that statement?
Because of my public support here for Rudy Giuliani, I'm surprised I haven't been banned yet. So, I'll save the Mods the work of monitoring my posts for some "banning offense," and simply ask that they delete my account at FreeRepublic. I don't want to be associated with this site any longer.
Good riddance. Happy anti-freeping.
It is one thing to 'take down the mob' (are they really gone? start a trash business in NYC and get back to me on that...)as a Mayor, in effect a dictator of policy. It is quite another to do so within Constitutional restraints, working with Congress, with the Pentagon, with national security agencies, with Governors and legislatures of the 50 states, and with Heads of State around the world.
It is not the same thing.
I look at that forcefulness and then note that he is anti-gun, and I am a gunowner. Fully half the guns I own are semi automatic rifles, the very types he has supported banning. Do I want that?
I note he is pro abortion, even to the point where he would have the taxpayers pick up the tab, and I think abortion is murder.
I do not want to pay for the cold-blooded murder of babies.
He is forceful, but he used it to NOT rid New York City of illegal aliens and NOT comply with Federal Law.
Need I continue?
Force alone is not enough.
The policies which will govern that use of force are even more important. In Rudy's case the sword has two edges, and his politics do not agree with mine. Why would I vote for someone who is going to use force against what I believe in? I can get that with Hillary, who is also ruthless.
How can you possibly believe that? They wrote the book. Who can possibly understand their beliefs better than the authors?
t is not "audacity" to state that Mormons aren't Christians--they aren't. The same with Jews, Mormons do not fully recognize God, and furthermore they go sort of crazy in believing that ordinary human creatures can become gods.
Do you believe that Christ was a Man and a God? Do you believe that he prayed to himself and lied when he pretended to pray to his father? Do you believe that Christ was the God of the old testament?
Allah definitely has aspects of God along with aspects from pagan gods. The name "Allah" was the name of a local moon god.
Are you claiming that Eloheim doesn't have pagan aspects? Are you familiar with the story of Issac and Ishmael? Are you claiming that Issac could believe in his fathers God but Ishmael couldn't?
Be offended all you want--that is still the case, whether or not you want it to be so.
Yes, I find willful ignorance offensive. From your posts it is clear that you don't have a clue about what Mormons, Jews or Muslims believe. You can be a cannibal, believe that Mary committed adultery, believe that the rapture is coming in 5 years but worry about what would happen to people if we colonize other worlds because then they can't return to god.
Please, don't go spouting off about things that you know nothing of.
“The way I remember it we used to have the giant flame bait thread with all the fighting and banning about a week before each freepathon. This time it is during, which is odd.”
Very simple - they can’t afford to do it before anymore. During is odd, should be immeditately after. I don’t doubt that the mods are taking notes and I expect some of these Freepers may be banned right after the goal is hit for some innocuous offense.
In the meantime, it’s quite entertaining to the outside observer.
They didn’t like you there, jazzfan, did they? There nick for you was really funny!
....sticks and stones.....pal...sticks and stones...
Interesting use of the term ‘brownshirts’. If anyone truly has a fear of ‘brownshirts’—JulieAnnie should be the LAST PERSON they should ever support!!!....lol
LOL. I’m watching with great interest at the meltdown here — both financial, I suspect, and the membership.
Tom DeLay: Time for GOP to Unite

Conservatives need to stop "pointing fingers at each other" and unite or Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the U.S., former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said in an exclusive NewsMax interview.
The Texas Republican also admitted he was a "self-centered jerk" before he was born again, called Nancy Pelosi "dangerous" and said he spent five weeks "on my knees" praying before deciding to resign from congress last June.
DeLay, whose new book is "No Retreat, No Surrender: One American's Fight" spoke with Paul Crespo...
I must say I agree with Mr. Delay. Time to come together and put away the childish pettiness.
August 1st, 2005 was the "inception of FR"?
Those who support Giuliani are wittingly or unwittingly the enemy of conservatism and to the conservative mission of this website. Those who continue to shill for Giuliani on this conservative website are acting in opposition to its mission and against the vast majority of the site's members. I hope that you find a home that is more welcoming to the liberalism and liberal candidates that you've recently espoused and supported on this site. Please take those who continue to work counter to our mission here with you. Then Free Republic can get back to the business of supporting conservatism and conservative candidates without your constant disruption and divisiveness. The distraction you've recently provided from Free Republic's mission has been most unwelcome.
Oh, and by the way, each and every of those negative character traits that you wish to pretend are exhibited exclusively by the conservatives here who refuse to be hoodwinked into supporting the most liberal Republican GOP presidential candidate ever, can be far more substantially attributed to the loud-mouthed, tiny minority of deluded, liberal Rudy supporters that pollute this site.
[* sighs *] In the old days,
all Freepers would have known that.
I swear, kids these days . . .
