Idol and FOX always want to drag the season out as long as they can, that's why they have a Top 12 now instead of a Top 10. I just don't understand why they would give up an extra week of revenue and ratings.

The finale is already timed to fall in the middle of May Sweeps -- they don't want it delayed.
