Thanks S_J...a welcome respite from the horrible headlines!
HOWDY!!!
Here in the lick of time:)
LOL Great graphic!
Thanks for the ping! :o)
Sorry I’m late peeps!
Gotta love the jackass graphic. Haven’t seen an episode of Hee Haw since the 70s.
Melinda was a hot babe tonite. Tina Turner indeed. Great performance.
Country music is always an interesting night — I generally don’t know most of the songs, but country is a bit more melodic than pop, and usually tells more of a story.
Phil - Pretty solid performance here, and a nice way to kick off the show. This may have been the most genuine performance of the night.
Jordin - Impressive, as usual. Not perfect, though... she always seems to be a little bit out of her comfort zone in any given style, leading me to wonder... what IS her style? Still, her power and control in her lower register is almost as good as her upper, and that is impressive.
Sanjaya - Hideous. Awful. I disagree that it was the worst performance ever (he was at least in tune), but this was just the wrong song sung by the wrong singer. Taking something this raw and gritty and turning it into elevator music.
Lakisha - Actually, to disagree with the judges, this is the best I’ve seen her in a while, though she was a little too much over the top. Diction, something I’ve been on her case about, was pretty good.
Chris - This almost made Sanjaya look acceptable, but that’s too much to ask even from Chris. This was painful to listen to, emotionally flat, and I’m happy to see the judges finally stopped kissing his posterior.
Melinda - It’s Melinda, what can I say? The only knock I have is that it seemed like her diction was hurt by being behind the tempo a couple of times.
Blake - Pretty dull for a closing number. I agree that Blake just went “safe” here. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad... it just... was.
Bottom 3: Sanjaya, Chris, Phil (should be Blake instead, but...)
Going home: Chris
