The point of it all is that he presents a special award to Carrie for selling over 6 million albums. The award is a huge framed photo of Carrie and six gold (or platinum?) discs.
Carrie thanks everyone involved with Idol and says, "Now lets get back to the show." I think all of this attention made her a little uncomfortable.

I think all of this attention made her a little uncomfortable.They are trying to make sure she doesn't sign with someone else when her contract is up.
