We had reported the rumors that Paul McCartney was going to be on American Idol a few months back as part of ‘Beatles Week’ on the show. Idol had gone through great lengths to secure the airing of the some of the Fab Four’s work but the plans were scrapped when the show couldn’t find a “mentor” for the week. The reason? Paul McCartney isn’t a fan of Simon Cowell. American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick said, “
“[McCartney’s] a nice guy. He doesn’t like Simon saying, ‘You’re horrible. You’re the worst I ever heard. You shouldn’t be singing. So the chances of Paul coming on the show were pretty slim.” Warwick added that Macca also is said to have taken exception at some the comments Cowell has said to the guests.
Here is my take: They should have gotten McCartney ex-wife Heather Mills because she knows no bounds of nastiness. In fact, she might of taken Simon’s job from him.
wow...I didn’t know Phil was from Okla. No wonder I adore him!! Norman and Shawnee....spent many, many good times in both places growing up..
Oh. My. God. Elvis and Celine Dion...that is the stuff of nightmares.
Simon Cowell’s London Mansion Burgled 4/23/07

Music mogul Simon Cowell’s London home was ransacked while the star was away in America.
The American Idol judge is devastated after thieves raided the Holland Park pad, making off with jewelry, silver, and electrical equipment.
Cowell has been branded “unwise” by police after he left his house keys with building constructors who were refurbishing his #6 million ($11.7 million) house.
Local police who investigated the crime say, “It was an unwise decision to say the least. You wouldn’t believe some of the things Mr Cowell had accumulated over the years that the thieves took a fancy to.”
A source tells British newspaper The Daily Express, “What has happened in similar cases is that someone copied the main key. I’m sure the builders would have been very careful about who had access, but it’s not always easy when a number of sub-contractors are coming in and out of the place.

Actors Daniel Radcliffe, Hugh Grant and Keira Knightley have signed up to perform on a special charity edition of hit US TV talent show, American Idol.
They will be joined by Forest Whitaker, Helena Bonham Carter and Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher on American Idol Gives Back, a one-off program to raise money for children in Africa and those whose lives were severely affected by 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.
Some celebrities will take to the stage alongside pop singers such as Gwen Stefani and Pink, while others will use their popularity to encourage viewers to donate funds to the charities.
A source says, “It’s great to have such a strong array of A-list stars. We are getting a chance to expose a young audience to global issues.”
The show will be broadcast live later this week (begs23Apr07).
‘American Idol’ judge Simon Cowell already “missing” Sanjaya Malakar
By Christopher Rocchio, 04/20/2007
Simon Cowell doesn’t smile often, but the American Idol judge has presumably been beaming brighter than the sun since Sanjaya Malakar, the bane of Cowell’s sixth season Idol existence, was eliminated on Wednesday night.
“I was on a very happy plane last night. I miss him probably in the same way I miss my favorite horror movie. And I don’t mean that nastily. I like horror movies,” Cowell said via satellite during an appearance on Thursday’s The Oprah Winfrey Show, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “A very sweet guy. Quite entertaining but a horrible singer. That was the problem.”
During Idol’s sixth season, Cowell had made little secret of the fact that he wasn’t a “fanjaya” and frequently criticized the 17-year-old Federal Way, WA native’s vocal ability and outrageous looks. But on Thursday, he also felt the need to reiterate his previous comments that he planned on quitting as a judge of the competition depending on how far Malakar made it.
“If he made it to the top three, I’m gone,” Cowell told Oprah during his Oprah interview. “But they wouldn’t let me.”
So if Malakar wasn’t Cowell’s cup of tea and he also doesn’t have Haley Scarnato’s legs to look at anymore, then who is he pulling for out of Idol 6’s six remaining finalists: Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, Lakisha Jones, Phil Stacey, Chris Richardson or Jordin Sparks?
“I have a soft spot for Melinda. Very sweet girl. I like her,” explained Cowell. “Jordin was sensational this week. Chris I like because he’s contemporary. But I’m a little bit worried about singing through the nose... My Top 3 or Top 2 would be Melinda, Jordin and I’m not writing off Lakisha.”
In addition to having to suffer through several-too-many Malakar performances than he would have liked, Cowell said there’s another aspect of Idol’s sixth season that’s been bugging him.
“I’m a little bit frustrated. I haven’t had enough, ‘Oh my God!’ moments. I want to see a few more,” he told Oprah, adding he thinks fellow judge Paula Abdul has gone “sensible-ish.” He explained, “I love when she talks complete and utter rubbish. We haven’t had enough of that the past few weeks.”
So does my 85 year old grandfather.
He explained, I love when she talks complete and utter rubbish. We havent had enough of that the past few weeks.
I totally agree with this. We need more vintage head-on-the-desk Paula.

And you still have to wonder
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
Exactly. The American people didn’t put him in the top 40 or 24 or whatever it was. That’s ALLLLLLL Cowell and Co.
DeGenerate Is the New Dunkleman
Oscar host will team with Seacrest on ‘Idol Gives Back’

Ryan Seacrest will get a high profile new co-host for this week’s “American Idol” charity special.
Seacrest, who has MCed the FOX smash solo since Brian Dunkleman was cut lose after the first season of “Idol,” will share the spotlight on Wednesday (April 25) night with Ellen DeGenerate.
As most people with a pulse know by now, “American Idol” has been building up to this week’s “Idol Gives Back” two-night spectacular benefiting relief programs for children and young people in extreme poverty in America and Africa. The event is so large that it’ll be expanding beyond the mere confines of the “Idol” stage.
Thus, on Wednesday night, Seacrest will host from the show’s usual venue, while DeGenerate will report from the Walt Disney Concert Hall. DeGenerate (”Mr. Wrong”), whose daily talk show is an Emmy magnet, recently hosted the 79th Annual Academy Awards, earning mostly respectful reviews.
The two-hour Wednesday show will feature an exhaustive list of celebrity appearances and performances including Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Earth, Wind & Fire, Il Divo, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Josh Groban with the African Children’s Choir, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Rascal Flatts, Quincy Jones, Carrie Underwood and Annie Lennox. Those are just the people mentioned in the most recent “Idol” press release, who knows who else might attend?
Following Tuesday night’s standard “Idol” performances (with the ambiguous “life anthem” theme), viewers will vote as usual and corporate sponsors will correspondingly donate money to charity. During the Wednesday show, viewers will be invited to call toll-free pledge lines (or go online) to donate money to the cause.
Hugh Grant?
Why on earth...?
There’s a few that are ‘why’? I think Wednesday will be a good night NOT to watch. I’ll find out who got booted via the thread. Hope their numbers tank on Wednesday, not that they would tell us if they did.
I agree. They’ll probably wait until the very last minute of the two hours to tell the unfortunate one who is going home. Some poor kid will have to sweat it out for two hours, while a lot of has-beens take up time and space.
Your grandfather has good taste. “;^)
“I’d buy anything she sings in a New Yawk minute, even if she sang the phone book. “;^)”
I would to...but I am not, in any way, the “pop music” demographic. How will she play with the Shakira, Fergie, Mary J. Blige’s of the world?
In keeping with the theme of Idol Gives Back, the finalists will sing life anthem songs about compassion and hope tonight 8/7c.
Who is going to sing that terrible song Imagine? This is going to suck...I can only take sunshine, rainbows and furry woodland critters for so long...
The frustrating thing about Ellen D. is that before she told the world about her personal life, she was a very funny comedienne to me. She wasn’t dirty, just funny. You kinda knew she wasn’t straight, but she didn’t mention it. Then all of the sudden she feels the need to tell all.. now I have a hard time watching her. If these idiots would just keep their mouths shut!! I used to love Cheryl Crow’s music, until she started opening her stupid mouth to talk rather than sing. So frustrating!!!
That’s one of the problems with Melinda. While she is a “good singer”, 19 is not going to give her Lena Horne songs. Look what happened to Taylor. They have it in their head what they want whether it matches the singers style or what their individual strength is.
Sounds like a standard telethon. Can’t wait to miss it.
Celine Dion to Duet With Elvis Wednesday on American Idol 4/24/07
http://www.celebrityspider.com/news/april07/article042307-7.html
Celine Dion will raise the dead on Wednesday (25Apr07) when she performs a duet with Elvis Presley on American Idol.
The odd couple will perform Presley’s hit If I Can Dream during the upcoming Idol Gives Back charity benefit.
Dion has been rehearsing for her odd live collaboration with a Presley impersonator, according to TMZ. The Canadian singer will perform with a virtual Presley on the show.
The Idol Gives Back special will help raise money to fight extreme poverty in the US and Africa.
