Thanks for the “Inside scoop.”

All in all I’m not impressed at the choices.

Really bad choice for Jordin. I LOVE Shania but “your still the one” is not a good song to showcase your vocals on. Any Man of Mine or From this Moment On are better choices.

Lakisha doing Martina could be a great choice for her or a disaster. Hopefully she’ll do well with it so we can get rid of Chris R tonight.

I just checked in for a hint of scoop and oooh, you guys are good! Don’t know any of the songs, but what else is new. :)

And that side will still probably scare the pants off of us! ;-)

Phil seems like such a genuinely nice man, but he really needs to let his grow in and ditch the hats.

I shocked that there’s no Keith. I was expecting that one or “Stupid Boy”.

Seriously I don’t these are good choices for this bunch. I imagine Melinda will be strutting around the stage. But aside from “Fancy” that is the most hideous song Reba McEntire ever recorded. Josh Gracin did that same Garth Brooks song but that type of music is his strong point. Hope Phil doesn’t get winded. It’s not an easy one. Lakisha better sing that song right. It’s a tear jerker. Maybe Blake should have picked “Tonight I Wanna Cry” LOL.” And Sanjaya certainly doesn’t have Ronnie Dunn’s strong distinctive voice, which is a lot of what makes that song work. I believe Chris drew the short straw this time. He picked a song so bad even country radio for the most part did not play it. Even though Shania Twain has never done what I would call a good song, Jordin is the only one I’m comfortable with. I think she might even make it sound good.

And WHY didn’t one of the guys think to do Billy Currington’s “Must be Doing Something Right”?

I really agree with your estimation. I’m really glad no one picked Shania’s “Party for Two”. It makes me want to drive my car into a wall just to end the suffering.

You know why Melinda picked that song- because it’s an up tempo bluesy number, just like ALL of Melinda’s song choices. She’s good, but starting to wear thin. We know you can sing up tempo bluesy numbers, what else ya got?

If she REALLY wanted to be retro, she should have reached into the Hank Williams, Sr. catalog and pulled out “Kaw-liga” or “I Saw The Light” or “Jambalaya”. Or something different then what she usually sings.

I think Latoya London also sang “Ain’t Goin’ Down Till the Sun Comes Up.” It needs to be retired with all Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion songs. There should be a limit of how many times a song can be sung on AI.

6. Melinda Doolittle - "Why Haven't I Heard From You" by Reba McEntire

Well, there's a bet I'll lose. I figured Melinda would keep to her fuddy-duddy tendencies and pick an old Patsy Cline tune or similar.

“Party for Two” is UNBEARABLE. I swore I would never forgive Billy Currington for that. But when he did “Must Be Doing Something Right” somehow forgiveness sprung forth from my heart. LOL. But he better not do something like that again. :)

Good point about Melinda. This is the reason I just don’t feel confident about her winning anymore. She just won’t come out of that box.

I forgot Latoya did that song. I agree. Some songs need to be retired. And not “Barbra Streisand retired”. But permanently. Though I am thankful he didn’t pick “Papa Loved Mama”.

I’m really surprised nobody picked “Desperado”. Everybody seems to think it’s a country song.

I think Chris Richardson could do well with the Tim McGraw number, it fits his target demographics well.

Chris will be fine tonight, doing country music. He is sort of this year’s Bucky. Cute and affable, and a middling good singer.

I think Lakisha and Melinda will bomb out tonight.

You know what song would have been good for Jordin? “Babygirl” from Sugarland.

They say in this town, stars stay up all night,
Don’t know, can’t see ‘em for the glow of the neon lights.
And it’s a long way from here to the place where the home fires burn.
Well it’s two thousand miles and one left turn.

“Dear Mom and Dad,
“Please send money, I’m so broke that it ain’t funny.
“I don’t need much, just enough to get me through.
“Please don’t worry ‘cause I’m all right,
I’m playin’ here at the bar tonight.
This time, I’m gonna make our dreams come true.
“Well, I love you more than anything in the world...
Love,
Your baby girl.”

Black top, blue sky, big town full of little white lies.
Well, everybody’s your friend: you can never be sure.
They’ll promise fancy cars and diamond rings, all sorts of shiny things,
But, girl, you’ll remember what your knees are for.

I know that I’m on my way.
I can tell every time I play.
And I know it’s worth all the dues I pay,
When I can write to you and say...

“Dear Mom and Dad,
“I’ll send money. I’m so rich that it ain’t funny.
It oughtta be more than enough to get you through.
“Please don’t worry ‘cause I’m all right,
I’m stayin’ here at the Ritz tonight
“Whaddya know, we made our dreams come true.
“And there are fancy cars and diamond rings,
“But you know that they don’t mean a thing.
They all add up to nothin’ compared to you.
“Well, remember me in ribbons an’ curls.
“I still love you more than anything in the world...
“Love,
“Your baby girl.”

Ah yeah.

Your baby girl.
(”Dear Mom and Dad,
(”Please send money, I’m so broke that it ain’t funny.)
(”Don’t need much, just enough to get me through.)
Your baby girl.
(”Please don’t worry ‘cause I’m all right,
Playin’ here at the bar tonight.
Ooh, ooh, ooh.)
Dreams come true.

Too bad Phil didn’t pick Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.”

He’d be a shoe in for a few more weeks!

Oh but Sanjaya is still here! I can't wait to see what he does tonight. Should be interesting. I get a buzz out of him. For a 17 year old, he sure has guts and sure isn't afraid to step out of his comfort zone! LOL! Course, I don't think he knows what his comfort zone is.
