Probably a good idea. I once paid $16.98 for a CD Wal Mart had for $9.72.

Simon Cowell says ‘American Idol 6’ finalists are “not a great cast”
By Christopher Rocchio, 04/13/2007
No, it’s not just you — even American Idol judge Simon Cowell believes Idol’s sixth season finalists haven’t been as good as some of the show’s previous casts.
“We’re doing as well as we are doing with not a great cast at the moment, to be honest with you,” Cowell recently told Entertainment Weekly. “They’re not the best bunch of kids we’ve ever had.”
Idol’s sixth season is currently down to its Top 7 finalists, so nobody’s won anything yet. However recently ousted finalists Chris Sligh, Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato have all stated they felt they achieved a goal by just cracking the Top 10, allowing them to perform during Idol’s traditional summer tour.
“I think that we suffer from Jennifer Hudson- and Chris Daughtry-itis, which is people who didn’t win getting great careers and now a lot of the contestants believing it absolutely doesn’t matter,” Cowell told Entertainment Weekly. “Sometimes there’s part of me thinking, ‘You genuinely couldn’t care less what we’ve got to say; everything’s going to go your own way now.’”
Even Paula Abdul — the Idol judge who frequently dishes the most upbeat and positive criticism to contestants — seems to agree with Cowell. “I just can’t say that they’re really good if they’re not,” Abdul told Entertainment Weekly. “I just can’t anymore.”
With the exception of Sanjaya Malakar and Phil Stacey, all of the season’s remaining finalists still have a chance of winning Idol’s sixth season, according to Cowell.
“It’s as close as it’s been in any season,” Cowell — who termed the competition a “five-way race” between Melinda Doolittle, Lakisha Jones, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, and Jordin Sparks — told Entertainment Weekly.
I’m surprised to see him admit it. I do agree about the finalists. I think it will be close between those 5.
I will narrow it down even further. I think it will be between Blake, Melinda and Jordin.
I like your thinking. :)
The one that I just can't get over is the judge's love of Chris...doesnt' seem to fit for some reason. LaKisha is wearing a little thin for me, and Phil--I love his attitude. I just wish he could connect with the audience better. His singing is good, even when his voice cracks, but there is just no charisma--but his wife is a doll. I love Phil's smile when he is over on the bottom three. His, "I'm just blessed to be here," comes across as so genuine. I saw where he is a preacher's kid. Anyone know anything about that?
It wouldn’t surprise me a bit. Melinda is very old fashioned. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. From the songs she has chosen every week I’m not as confident about her winning this. I’m not impressed that she’s kind of “skirted” it a time or two, like British Invasion week. I definitely think Blake will be the last male standing even though I really don’t like him. I like Phil but I don’t see him going beyond another week or two. Chris is showing up in the bottom recently. Signs of things to come. Lakisha is one I’m getting tired of too. For me she had one good night & then nothing. I think Jordin could very well pull the upset.
I also think that Simon is realizing that Melinda isn't the American Idol type, but is in love with her singing. Her response to his critique last week was super for off the cuff. I don't think that you could have scripted that line and had it come off so well. I'm ready for tomorrow night.
On another note, this season with Dancing with the Stars just isn't up to par for me either. There just isn't the charisma that there was last year. LOL! I think I'm getting to be critical in my old age--starting to sound like my mother!

Carrie Underwood’s ‘Wasted’ Becomes the Best New Artist GRAMMY Winner’s 4th Consecutive #1 Country Single; ‘Before He Cheats,’ Carrie’s Third #1, Now a Hot AC Top 10 and on the Air at MTV!
NASHVILLE, Tenn. /PRNewswire/ — Double-GRAMMY winner and reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Carrie Underwood is atop the country airplay charts once again this week as her fourth single, “Wasted,” follows the #1 success of “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “Before He Cheats.” With “Wasted,” Carrie becomes the first female country artist in the monitored era to achieve four #1 singles from her debut album. She joins superstar labelmates Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn as the three most recent artists in country music to enjoy this remarkable feat on their first album.
Even as “Wasted” becomes country radio’s most-played song in the nation, Carrie’s third smash, “Before He Cheats,” is now powering its way up the Hot AC chart, entering the Top 10 this week. This marks the first time a solo country female has hit the Hot AC Top 10 since Faith Hill’s “The Way You Love Me” in December of 2000!
“Before He Cheats” is already on the air at VH1 and hot on their VSpot Top 20 Video Countdown, while MTV also wants its Carrie Underwood, as the Oklahoma beauty and GRAMMY-winning Best New Artist sees “Before He Cheats” newly added into rotation. Remarkably, Carrie becomes the first country artist to hit MTV since 1999’s Shania Twain smash, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.”
The singles are all from Underwood’s unstoppable 19 Recordings/Arista debut disc, Some Hearts, now RIAA-certified 5x Platinum. Fans can also be looking for a cover feature on Carrie in the May issue of Cosmopolitan, on sale now.

Were doing as well as we are doing with not a great cast at the moment, to be honest with you, Cowell recently told Entertainment Weekly. Theyre not the best bunch of kids weve ever had.
Gee, Mr. Cowell, who put thos kids through to Hollywood and then into the top 24?
I think that we suffer from Jennifer Hudson- and Chris Daughtry-itis, which is people who didnt win getting great careers and now a lot of the contestants believing it absolutely doesnt matter, Cowell told Entertainment Weekly.
Gosh, Simon, whose fault is that? Who let non winners release their cd's before the winner? Who has spent a lot of time bashing the winner, just to 'get even' with him, because they didn't like him? Hmmm Who Simon?
Sometimes theres part of me thinking, You genuinely couldnt care less what weve got to say; everythings going to go your own way now.
Maybe giving everyone from last season a contract caused that. How many other second place contestants got a brand new car just like the winner? Who cheapened 'winning'?
Even Paula Abdul the Idol judge who frequently dishes the most upbeat and positive criticism to contestants seems to agree with Cowell. I just cant say that theyre really good if theyre not, Abdul told Entertainment Weekly. I just cant anymore.
Hey Paula, same question. Who put these people through to Hollywood and into the top 24?
Exactly. They brought this on themselves. They picked this bunch even though there were others more talented, so they have no right to complain.
And why should the contestants care? AI has proved they don’t need to win to get a contract. The winner should be treated differently. Winning doesn’t mean anything on this show anymore. It’s a mess AI created. They’re getting what they deserve.
I think their screeners spent too much time looking for jerks to show during auditions, instead of looking for talent for the show. It used to be that the talent was the show and the losers were a side note. This year they featured the losers at the expense of the more talented.
I’m sure most of us agree that this is the shallowest talent pool since season #3. The blame squarely rests on Cowell, Abdul, Jackson and the producers. If they don’t right the ship next season, we will look back at the time AI jumped the shark... All without Ted McGinley.
Dancing with the Stars is more interesting this season.
1. Phil Stacey - "Ain't Goin' Down Till The Sun Goes Up" by Garth Brooks
2. Jordin Sparks - "You're Still The One" by Shania Twain
3. Sanjaya Malakar - "Boot Scootin Boogie" by Brooks & Dunn
4. Lakisha Jones - "Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride
5. Chris Richardson - "Over And Over" by Nelly and Tim McGraw
6. Melinda Doolittle - "Why Haven't I Heard From You" by Reba McEntire
7. Blake Lewis - "Come A Little Closer" by Dierks Bentley
Not shocked at Chris R.'s choice at all. But I am shocked there is no Keith Urban. I would have bet money someone was going to sing "Tonight I Wanna Cry".
I wish Jordin had picked something better (okay, something I like better LOL) then Shania Twain.
3. Sanjaya Malakar - "Boot Scootin Boogie" by Brooks & Dunn
Oh boy. That should be interesting. I have to say, though, for him it's probably a good choice. It's a total crowd pleaser song right up there with "Friends in Low Places" from Garth.
Meg88 was good enough to post tonights set list at post 5818.
Shockingly, no Keith Urban.
I generally like Deirks Bentley, but for some reason I don’t like “Come a Little Closer”. It’s sort of like my dislike of Blake, I don’t know why it’s there or so intense, it just is. Why not sing something peppy like “What Was I Thinkin’?”
