I know 24 is on line the day after; either on Fox or My Space. If not, they will replay it.
I just head a segment on my local Fox News station about AI....and they said that Ryan Seacrest predicts that Jordin Sparks will with the contest.
Just updating you on Elliott. His 2nd week on the chart, and his new album fell precipitously. It opened in 3rd last week and fell to 31 this week, with 27,023 in sales reported by Hits Daily Double. His single ‘Wait For You’ is slowly inching up the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart. It’s currently at #51.
I am glad to hear that some of the contestants that don’t win the #1..are going on to have careers. Maybe they aren’t “stars” but are able to make CD’s and sing in concerts.
Thanks for the info on Elliot...I liked him a lot last year..and I like Chris Daughtrey also.
He looked like a drug dealer from Miami Vice. (Bleeeeech)
Someone with the screen name aigrl06 posts:
^I still don't quite understand the whole "Idol Gives Back" thing. I mean, how are so many artists going to perform on such a short show? Or are they all performing? I just don't get it.
Then someone named Like A Dirrty Crazy Ho! responds:
What are they giving back to? lol.
Jordan (Baby McP!nkch) posts:
Africa?
Then Crashed posts:
They're giving back Africa? LOL
aigrl06 comes back with:
And the New Orleans area...
[Nagin will not be happy to hear we're giving his Chocolate City back. ROFLMAO!]
Finally Like A Dirrty Crazy Ho! posts:
Maybe they're buying water for all the zebras and lions and stuff like elephants and monkies? They should feed them.
LMBO!!! So much for all the touchy feely limo Lefty faux social conscience stuff getting through to the kids who watch AI.
Not surprising. I thought the song writing on it was weak and it’s really just garden variety R&B stuff. The big sales bump came from Richmond but nationally he was bound to suffer due to the fact that he didn’t keep himself out there and in the public eye. It’s a shame really because he really can sing but he decided to hold out and not sign with anyone then tried to do a lot of his own stuff which is really hard to do if you have never written songs before. I don’t think he’s got the right people guiding him musically and from a marketing standpoint.
Thanks for the update.
...and LaKisha does not take the advice of any of the Legends who have been coaching her. Arrogance.
What did Tony suggest, I must have missed it?
I thought she listened tonight. She originally wanted to do a long drawn out note at the end and he said no. And she didn't.
I noticed that about LaKisha. Tony told her specifically not to add any of her “stuff”. She went ahead and ruined a great song at the end with her pouty little ad lib. Plus when she started out, she wasn’t with the band at all, and I heard a bunch of pitchy notes. But the judges said nary a negative word to her. She’s “Teacher’s Pet” this year.
Melinda was just OK tonight. Maybe it’s because that was an Ethel Merman song, and no one can do it like Ethel did, back in the day.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Jordin. She puts a smile on my face. She is always a ray of sunshine. She is MY American Idol. Her voice and presentation are terrific.
Gina did herself proud tonight, and she almost made me cry with her heartfelt rendition of “Smile”. She took Tony’s advice, and she hit a homerun.
Chris’s voice was very thin tonight. He was not projecting. Blake had a similar problem...he swallows his words. I want to say to both of them “Open up your mouth, boys, and let the sound out.”
Phil was mellow tonight. He has a sweet-sounding voice, but again, not enough projection. I’m afraid he might go home this week.
Sanjaya was handsome and saucy in that white suit tonight. But I kept picturing him in “Jewel in the Crown” as the goodlooking houseboy, saying to Paula, “Mem Sahib, shall I draw your bath now?”
Haley looked gorgeous tonight, and she sang the song quite well, for Haley, that is. No comparison to Nell Carter, though.
All in all, it was a very entertaining evening, and I recognized ALL the songs.
No, sorry Net. Tony told her NOT to do her weird stuff at the end and to just go for the big note like it was written. LK chose NOT to take TB’s advice and did that other song’s lyric at the end. She should have stopped at the big, showy note, but she didn’t.
What other song?
Do you have a “Fantasy Island” fetish?
She added a whole line at the end to the classic, “Stormy Weather”. Something about “her man gone ‘way ‘n’ makin’ her sad”, poor diction and all. It was awful.
To each their own, I guess. The judges get down on them if they don’t change it up, and the yget down on them if they do change things. Just can’t please them sometimes. Though Simon did seem to like it.
1. Chris R. I thought his song was modern with a little hint of country to it. Not as nasal as in previous weeks. Very strong and I loved the outfit! Surprise of the night.
2. Melinda She's a pro. And she owns some brass ones to tackle an Ethel Merman song...
3. Jordin I agree with Simon, that it was a straight-line interpretation of the song. No originality, really. But what a voice! And a beautiful smile that makes you forgive the fact that she's not being very adventurous.
4. LaKisha She really needs to watch replays of her performances. She's very unattractive when she sings. The facial expressions look like something from a psyche ward. Maybe she should ease up on the intensity just a tad--it mutates her face and scares children and household pets. She should have stopped the song on the big, bad-*ss note, just like TB said to do. It would have been show-stopping. She's slipping, IMO.
5. Blake So, how come you sing a song about a mobster like you're singing a love song? I didn't get this at all. I think Blake is all about being a seducer and not about being a song stylist. It's getting on my nerves. Especially since I think he's trying to seduce teenage boys...
6. Phil Wonder why he shaved his head again? In the shots with TB, he was growing hair. It looked okay, and it would have made me want to see what it would look like next week. As is happens, I don't think we'll have that chance because I just about fell dead asleep during his song. Boring! Bye Phil!
7. Sanjaya No, he's not the worst one out there. Sure, he can't sing very well, but I don't dislike him as much as I dislike....
8. Gina Bad makeup, especially the lipstick. Bad hair. Bad tongue stud. Boring song. She's so fake, she makes me want to scream. Anyone who thinks that girl is a real rocker probably thinks Avril Lavigne is a real rock chick, too. (As much as I dislike their politics, Joan Jett and Chrissie Hynde are probably the last of the real rock chicks, before corporations started manufacturing talent.)
9. Haley Oh my. Why does she look so hurt when the only nice thing the judges can think to say is, "Great legs." Well, duh! If you are selling your sex appeal that hard, you better be prepared for the response. She is way too cutsey with all her performances. Not very serious at all, and much too much mugging for the cameras instead of connecting with the live audience (except for that fellow in the front row who got the lap dance) and connecting with her lyrics. As much as the judges harp on poor Phil for not connecting emotionally with the song, Haley is MUCH worse.
Who should go:
Haley
Who will go:
Phil
She sang, “Ain’t no sunshine when he’s gone” at the very end, from the Bill Wither’s song, “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”. Just that one line. And she did it badly.
I just listened to it again and that didn’t hurt a thing. Sounded great.
