I hate to be jaded but I think AI uses their faith when AI wants to. They will use them for 'inspirational week' then promptly forget about it.

I'm not sure that Mandisa got voted off for speaking about her beliefs as much as for song selection. I think she had two weeks real close together where she did hymns or gospel or at least closely related songs. I cringed when she did it, thinking it might hurt her.

I really liked her and wanted her to stick around longer. She has a gospel album coming out I guess and I think that IS the type of music she said she wanted to do. I just think she was backing herself into a corner with it. At least as far as AI went. jmo

I'm new to this thread, so please excuse me for butting in.

I have been telling my wife, who just don't "get" Blake, that HE is an original, and will be very successful, no matter how he finishes on Idol.

I'm an old fart, but this kid is GOOD! I really enjoyed his performances.

It just sounded like it would suit her voice perfectly. I think her problem is that when she tries to sing louder, she end up shouting and there's a difference. Like instead of the sounds coming from the diaphragm, she ends up with the louder singing coming strictly from her throat, thus yelling.

My grandson chose a Disney Cruise for his Make a Wish. I was thinking that American Idol would certainly be a short lived wish. Glad to hear that there is nothing wrong with the young lady.

I just think she's more versatile than LaKisha. LaKisha is going to be at her best standing with a mic stand and belting. Melinda can do that, too, but she's a better mover than LaKisha. Melinda will handle up-tempo songs better than LaKisha, as well. As I said, I think Melinda's greatest appeal isn't to a youthful audience, but I think LaKisha is similar in that regard. May hurt them both before all is said and done.

I disagree, not because she didn't sing well, she did, but Jordon is really coming on, and IMO, is getting close to being a force to be reckoned with. If she keeps improving every week like she has been doing...she'll give Melinda a run for her money.

You know, I felt just the opposite. I feel like I'm seeing a much older person perform, say like someone in their late 40's. She great, but not American Idol style. I really think that Jordin is the Idol type package.

I think Melinda cemented herself as an older singer last night. She needs to pull up and out and use that talent that she has to appeal to all ages. My grandson won't even sit through her performance. He gets bored with her, now Blake...that's another story!

It will be really interesting to see how this all plays out, that's for sure!
