I read some place recently that Tommy Daniels had been arrested since being cut. I'll see if I can relocate.
A few random thoughts, after catching up with both episodes this week....
I'm not overly excited about anyone yet. Two from the "I can't believe they weren't cut" file: Antonella and Sundance. I predict early demises (AI-wise) for both of them. (Marisa wuz robbed!!) As for Baylie, I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm glad she's off AI -- she just seemed like such a Stepford Idol. (I feel very sorry for her about going up on her words so badly, though -- that's a hideous experience.)
I am somewhat impressed by Chris Sligh. He's not much to look at, but the boy is a serious song stylist. His voice is good, not great, but he already knows how to present a song to its (and his best advantage). I don't know if America is ready for a chubby white guy as its Idol, though.
Lakisha: Not real excited about the "baby mama" thing (and AI will surely beat that horse to death), but she was actually exciting on stage! That last clip showed some real fire in her performance. If she doesn't succumb to nerves, I think she'll go far.
Lastly, I wish to heck AI would ditch about half of the audition shows and instead do more with Hollywood Week. I really don't care about seeing yet another goofy guy who can't sing anyway show up to auditions in an oversize Uncle Sam outfit, but I *would* like to watch the kids who make the cut approach their work -- I think it shows a lot about their seriousness and professionalism, or lack thereof. That's much more interesting to me. If I have any time to watch AI next year (I hope!) I'm just going to skip the auditions altogether and start with Hollywood Week.
