What on earth didn't they like about her?

I have no idea ... I liked what little I heard from Marisa.

I wish we had seen more of her before this, in any case. Why did they waste so much time showing us people that were rejected as soon as they got to Hollywood?

Heck, some of 'em were rejected when they sat in that chair, and it was the first and last time we saw them. I guess Marisa performed well in the snippets we saw of her, but must have flubbed in the other rounds we didn't see.

Unlike most years, this year there doesn't seem to be a true standout among the top 24. The ones who caught my eye talent-wise are few:

Chris Sligh
Jared Cotter
Brandon Rogers
Lakisha Jones

The prettiest girl, or at least the one the camera seems to love, is Jordin Sparks. I haven't seen enough of the guys yet to decide if any of them are attractive to me.

I see there's at least one Ace wannabe...the dude named Phil Stacey.

On the whole, this year's group is sort of meh so far. Could political correctness be more evident in their choices? I suspect that's why some of the people we thought were good in the early rounds didn't get in. Unspoken quotas: blacks, Hispanics, gays, a couple of Asians, maybe a couple of mixed-race hopefuls.

Anyway, next week we finally get to actually see these people perform in the spotlight and we'll know who the serious contenders are and who the wannabes are.
