I think it was a human interest type thing and I might even look for him to show up at the finale this year. That would be awesome! They should let him sing his song--the whole song--again in front of that massive audience. What a terrific moment that would be.

Inspirational story. Sherman, 64 years old, his wife of 20 years was dying from cancer (she died the Friday before this audition) and she wanted him to try for Idol. So he's here for her. He gets in with 300 signatures on a petition.How sweet.
Gotta admit it...Idol has something for everybody.
