Well, the postal service does compete with private delivery companies. But I don't see how taxing government for its employees who must pay the FairTax (which is supposed to replace the income tax) as consumers equalizes anything. Then the proper way to make it competitive is to charge a sales tax on the postage. That would be equal treatment.

It would do exactly that. The USPS (along with AMTRAK etc.) is a government entity not subject to the "Taxable Employer" clause of the Fairtax
