Believing that Congress will stop spending while letting them hold the purse is like telling a teen that they can have whatever allowance they want and can demand more money when they run out, but still expecting them not to spend.

Seems that in the last years of the last century we were on track and doing just that. IMHO, a Congress and president who were not particularly friendly with eachother had some advantages - checks and balances.

So that is it? the solution is to vote in a Congress that is in opposition to the other branches? Instead of fixing a horrible system we should just imagine how bad it could be....sigh. And when a majority aren't paying any taxes and a minority is paying them all...then what? I guess we can hope that Atlas shrugs.
