You are right I was typing to fast and the plumber is here chatting. Amish do NOT typically have phones, the Memonites do - sometimes. That's what I meant to say. Thanks! : )

the Amish do have phones, situated in booths at the end of their driveways. They look like port-o-potties. They also use cell phones(teenagers that is). Was a bit surprised to see a bunch of teens yakking on cell phones outside of the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg this spring when attending the Home Builder's Show.

The Amish do not have phones, the Mennonites do.Some Amish do have phones (just not in their homes). We just hired an Amish cabinet-maker, and he has called us twice from his shop.
He also made copies of our floor plan, on his diesel-powered copier.
Some technology is okay for them. They decide what's okay on an item-by-item basis.
